I was wondering if anyone knows they Journey never did a live album with Augeri and why they haven't put one out yet with Arnel? I know they had Arrival 2001 and they upcoming DVD, but personally I'd like a live album.

Simple, rip the songs from the upcoming DVD and you have a live album. Unfortunately, I know of no live album with SA or AP.

Correct. Rip the audio from your DVD and you have a live album. Bands know that the best bang for the buck is to release a live DVD, not just a live album.

How the heck do rip audio from a DVD to audio? (Wav files perferably)
Geez I'd love to have some modern live Journey matierial.
I just think it's odd bands like Iron Maiden and The Black Crowes release both DVD and cd's of concerts yet Journey goes DVD only route.

I think the idea of a live CD accompanying a DVD was not common practice when Live 2001 came out. IMO if there had been a time to record a Live CD it would have been the Detour. Of course, IF Steve's voice hadn't gone bad than the Generations Tour was the epitome of DVD/Live CD release material. But their window was actually very small with Steve....building up in the beginning, then the back-n-forth from short-set co-headlines to solo shows, then Steve's failing vocal health. So by the time they had the audiences they needed they didn't have the vocal strength or band chemistry neccessary. I definately think the Manilla DVD should come with an audio CD. Maybe later with a BluRay release?

There's a bunch of software out there. Just search for DVD Audio Extractor. I don't do it enough to keep one around, so I can't be more helpful.
Good quality bootlegs (preferably soundboard) work also for recent stuff, as long as you don't pay money for them. There's plenty of those also that are free.

they should do a live album with Arnel. His vocals were amazing at Amway Arena in Orlando.
