Local girl meets Journey

Angel Wilson, 13, of Moore, was the guest of Journey at a recent concert at the Oklahoma City Zoo Amphitheater.
"Members of the rock band had heard about Angel and all the trial and tribulations she has gone through since she was born and the group wanted to do something special for her," said Angel's mother Crysta Wilson.
Angel Wilson was has cerebral palsy from birth. She can't walk or talk and also gets fed through a feeding tube. Angel had two hip and leg surgeries within a 15-month period. Angel also is scheduled to have back and spine surgery in January 2010.
"When the members of Journey heard about this brave little girl from Oklahoma, they knew they wanted her to be their very special guest at their concert here and she was," Crysta Wilson said. "Journey welcomed Angel and her family with 'Open Arms'."
"I know that's one of their hit songs ("Open Arms") but it's true," Angel's dad, Billy Wilson, said.
Crysta Wilson Angels mom, said,' "She was deeply touched by the band members sincere kindness towards her," Crysta Wilson said. "These guys are truly nice guys, that's no bull, sincere, warm and caring."
Not only did the members of Journey spend time with Angel and her family before the show, they also presented Angel with a few gifts.
Placing something in Angel Wilson's hand, Journey lead singer Arnel Pineda, said "this is just for you."
Arnel Pineda, Journey's lead singer, went to his dressing room and came out with something in his hand and put it in Angels, hands, saying, This is Just for You !"
When Angel's mom opened Angels hand she couldn't believe her eyes, she said.
"It was a beautiful cross necklace, and yes it's heavy," she said. I'm not sure if its pure silver or pewter, but it doesn't really matter. It was just such a sweet gesture on his part."
Angel and her family also received t-shirts, an autographed three- disc CD and an autographed picture of the band.
"These guys are simply the best and they truly rock," Billy Wilson said. "And as for Angel she keeps on believing."
