I love the new DVD although the sound quality is just not that good the setlist makes up for it. Dream concert for sure! It's a toss up between WIN and TDTWT and I think WIN wins for me! No pun intended.

Yes, I also loved the setlist. I would have to say What I Needed because it sounded awesome live, especially with Neal's soulful solo, strong vocals, and b/c I've never heard it live since it was only played in the very beginning of the tour. TDTWT is really great to have on this DVD and Still They Ride tied for second place, as I love both of those songs.

I saw Arnel last year and he sounded great. Maybe the fact that I was drunk helped too. But he sounds terrible on this show. the rest of the band just seems too bored to be there , except for Neal smiling ear to ear , thinking $$$,,,

Of course if you wanna stick your fucking head in the sand and pretend that this is a good show , I am not gonna argue with you.

Each to his own. But, to me, I was watching fantastic musicians. Neal makes this show in so many ways with his changes to songs and solos. A true pleasure to watch. Deen killed on his songs and as always on drums. And Arnel absolutely rocked this concert. And seven songs from their new album. Plus one, Texafana.

I'm not an Arnel-hater. As I said , I enjoyed his performance in Cleveland last year , but I wasn't impressed at all with the Manilla show. His dictation plain sucks and ruins the show.

I'm not the only one that thought Neal gave a fantastic performance. It's been pretty much universal on here that he did, so my opinion does count. Greatness is greatness. What can I say? Not hard to always give him a good review re his playing.

My review stated Arnel started off several songs very gravelly and not his best. I stated when the concert finally took off for me. I have made certain criticisms of the band in the past.

Disagree with me all you want, Neal's performance was fantastic in Manila and all the reviews from MR members pretty much stated so, even from those that had issues with other areas of the concert, Arnel, sound, etc. You're the one that came back and quoted me for saying "universal" re his performance and discounting that statement as an obsessed fan. I can't help that what others on here were saying was in agreement with how I felt. :wink:

I imagine most on here would agree with my greatness statement re Neal as a guitarist.

I have loved Journey since 1981 and hated it when Perry left and appreciated Augeri, JSS, and now Pineda. I do love his powerful voice and I really think he does give it his all in every show and honestly my 2 favorites were TDTWT and WIN from revelation and never uinderstood why they did not release TDTWT as a single. I think it is as good or better than When You Love A Woman and would have sold the public on a song that was not Perry's. I loved all the extra Riff's Neal put in this show and Dean is the man. Those 3 really do it for me and as talent as JC is, he just always looks bored to me.

Hey guys, stop arguing with the detractors. You're not gonna change their minds. Fortunately, they do not represent the mass Journey fan base. We're ok.

My gauge is the show attendance and the way the crowds are just eating it up. Journey is doing it's best in over 13 years. What is ridiculous is people calling Journey a tribute band when it's tenure as a band triples Steve Perry's. Hell, Steve Augeri worked longer than Perry. (I don't consider being absent from the band 10 years tenure). But, loon away, if you must. :wink:

Journey of today rocks! Consider this; even while there was Perry there will still plenty of people who thought Journey sucked. I have a friend that was relieved that Journey was finally gone, or so he thought....til he heard about Arnel reviving them. He could never understand all the Journey love. He's the type that thinks Tool is the greatest band that ever lived. :shock:

. (sorry, not picking at you specifically - I've seen this on here many times in the Arnel discussions and it drives me crazy). Funny - when I watch the DVD with people who have never been big Journey fans, they just don't hear it. I hear it on almost every song - does it bother me? - nah.

As far as attendance goes, Arnel wouldve drawn the same crowd , had he performed with fucking Tool

Its about supporting their national hero mainly,, and if you dont believe that, then youre dumber than you think I think you are

Arnel & Jboyz, did a helluva show last year when I saw them. The Manilla show just doesnt deliver. Glad you enjoyed it and made it worth your $10. Also glad my copy was free. Everyone's happy. Life goes on !
