Favorite Song on Manila DVD?

I love the new DVD although the sound quality is just not that good the setlist makes up for it. Dream concert for sure! It's a toss up between WIN and TDTWT and I think WIN wins for me! No pun intended.

I have to agree with you on this one. The entire show seems like a tribute band trying to celeberate what once was Journey.

fk that.. the band hasn't sounded this good in years and I'm sold on Arnel being the official best singer for Journey since Steve Perry. "What I Needed", by itself should solidify that. Time to embrace what Arnel has brought to the band. With Augeri and Soto, I was still looking more at the band playing, with Arnel I'm finally back at watching...er...listening to the lead vocal alot more.

Each to his own. But, to me, I was watching fantastic musicians. Neal makes this show in so many ways with his changes to songs and solos. A true pleasure to watch. Deen killed on his songs and as always on drums. And Arnel absolutely rocked this concert. Plus one, Texafana.

you'd pay to watch Neal take a dump and you'd give him a great review if he took a fucking nap.
I'm not an Arnel-hater. As I said , I enjoyed his performance in Cleveland last year , but I wasn't impressed at all with the Manilla show. His dictation plain sucks and ruins the show.

There's a huge differnce between an open honest review , than a one way , biased opinion from an obsessed fan.

I said, it was "pretty much universal" that Neal gave a fantastic performance in Manila. From every review on here Neal was pretty much praised.
I stand by my greatness comment as a guitarist, solo and with Journey.

Since you don't agree with those two statements, you call me biased for believing those two statements above about Neal, I could call you biased against Neal b/c of your issues with the band, but I won't.![]()

I have given Neal & the band credit when they have performed greatly. I didn't even give Neal a bad review as far as his performance at the Manilla show , did I?! What was on stage as a band was not Journey , no matter how good Neal was.
Unlike you, I actually give them good & bad reviews.
You would never give Neal a bad review even if he had a poor performance cause you're a very obsessed fan

Legally, logically and factually, you're wrong.

Jeff had good & bad performances too. But he was never a Perry clone. He was giving Journey a new sound rather than turning the band into a tribute band to themselves.

With Jss, I saw a guy singing the same songs basically like Perry in the same way, but obviously couldn't and didn't sound like him b/c his voice is totally different. It wasn't like he was up there putting a whole new twist on the classic songs. Truthfully, Arnel gets put down all the time on here b/c he doesn't sound like Perry and many would prefer singers like Jeremey to be the lead. And all of their new songs sound nothing like Perry, so how is that not a new sound? Arnel has very rich, warm, powerful tenor vocals. Like A Sunshower, TDTWT, WIN, CFTB, right, a tribute band, not original. Seven new songs on the Manila DVD. Okay.

Yes at least there is somewhere you can see these songs.....because it was not at the concerts![]()

That would be diction. (sorry, not picking at you specifically - I've seen this on here many times in the Arnel discussions and it drives me crazy). Funny - when I watch the DVD with people who have never been big Journey fans, they just don't hear it. I hear it on almost every song - does it bother me? - nah.
steveo777 wrote:Hey guys, stop arguing with the detractors. You're not gonna change their minds. Fortunately, they do not represent the mass Journey fan base. We're ok.My gauge is the show attendance and the way the crowds are just eating it up. Journey is doing it's best in over 13 years. What is ridiculous is people calling Journey a tribute band when it's tenure as a band triples Steve Perry's. Hell, Steve Augeri worked longer than Perry. (I don't consider being absent from the band 10 years tenure). But, loon away, if you must.

Journey of today rocks! Consider this; even while there was Perry there will still plenty of people who thought Journey sucked. I have a friend that was relieved that Journey was finally gone, or so he thought....til he heard about Arnel reviving them. He could never understand all the Journey love. He's the type that thinks Tool is the greatest band that ever lived.
