And to think that I always believed women weren't really into tiny little men. Isn't Arnel about 4'3"? Dude has a hell of a voice but he doesn't look like he's tall enough to get on most of the rides at Disney

Well, he is shorter than Schon, if that's possible. I guess the whole premise of his hiring was to make Neal bigger.

Dude...the entire Journey machine is all about making Schon look like the alpha male. Even though Schon would NEVER EVER EVER admit it, Perry leaving Journey was his dream come true. With Perry not there to hog the spotlight, Neal has everyone looking at him...Just the way he's always liked it! I think Journey is the only band whose DVD's I've watched seem to focus on their guitarist over their lead singer, during concert footage. Neal might be three foot eight but he has an ego the size of fucking Montana!

Nothing could be further from the truth. Neal gave Perry almost full control of the band...his band!!! And the last two years Journey has played an intro with 4 guys on stage and let Arnel come in on his own for his own applause. Try as you might, but there's no evidence past or present that Schon has wanted to do anything but play. Fuck, he hardly leaves his side of the stage. Neal never wanted Perry to leave and he's told people here as much. He just wanted him to work!

Sorry dude, but I'm not buying anything you're selling. You can keep stroking Schon's schlong and I'll keep telling you what a douche the guy is! I could give a fuck who he is rolling onto the stage, in what order, on a given night! You give Schon WAY too much credit for Journey's success, in my opinion. The dude has publically stated that the type of music that Journey played with Perry wasn't even really his thing but simply a way for him to pay his bills! Also, Neal didn't give Perry or anyone else "control" of the band, as you put it. He simply understood that this band was going as far as Perry's voice would take them! It's not anymore complicated than that. I will always hold the position that Schon is a fucking douche who has always exhibited zero respect for Perry and the legacy of Journey. Schon is about making a buck, and while I don't begrudge him or anyone else needing to pay their bills, some of the decisions he has made over the years as it relates to "his band" tells me that "his band" was in FAR better hands when Perry was steering the ship! I'll also never believe Neal's bullshit line about Perry having "an open invitation". Perry doesn't like Schon and Schon doesn't like Perry. Schon can keep blowing smoke up your ass and telling how much he loves his Stevie, but I've never bought any of his propaganda! I'll never deny Neal's immense talent but I'll also never believe that Journey succeeded because of him. In fact, I think Cain and Perry were both more significant than Schon ever was. And again, it's not a commentary on his talent. It's simply a reflection of each guy's contribution to the body of work and Schon being a founder doesn't cut it for me, even though I know it does for everyone else. As I've said 1000 times, the band Schon founded and the band that became Journey had absolutely NOTHING to do with Neal's vision!

No, and if you have the ability to read, you'll see that's not what I said. I said that I think Perry and Cain were both more significant when it came to the actual sound that Journey became known for. Honestly, all you really have to do is listen to any of the Pre-Perry Journey albums. I think even the dudes on this board lining up to kiss Schon's ass would agree that the music on those albums sounds NOTHING like the band we all came to know. Schon is the prominent member on those albums. Perry and Cain are nowhere to be found! Listen to Perry's demo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnaPrIBjHh0 . Schon is nowhere in sight, and it sure sounds like it could have easily been a Journey song to me!

I do have the ability to read, which is why I ASKED you to clarify..... rather than assume. ;) I've only listened to a couple of the pre Steve albums because voiceless rock really has no interest for me outside of some gems like Into Your Arms. But if you have the ability to read, you'll see Neal's name is on a lot of the writing credits.... seems like he has a GREAT deal of influence with the band, even as far as their direction is concerned. :)

Sure it is, but at the end of the day, Schon isn't the voice behind the music! The voice matters the absolute most, to the vast majority of people. I think Cain was the most prolific songwriter of all three of them. At the end of the day, Journey for me will always come down to the three of them...Perry, Cain, and Schon. Every other name who has been rolled into and out of this band over the past 30+ years couldn't be less relevant to me!

K.... I respect and agree with all of that.... it just came off differently in your earlier posts. I have nothing but huge respect for the talents of the Big Three: Steve's voice, Jon's writing talents, and Neal's musical aptitude... but I'll readily admit that the Voice is the greatest of that Holy Trinity. I'll definitely own more of Steve's solo work than any of Neal's!

Wow, do I disagree with you saying Perry and Cain were more significant when it came to the actual sound. Neal's guitar is what gave the Journey sound to those songs also with the Perry's soaring vocals. Neal's influence is all over their music and much of it might have been more pop without. I have always said in a general sense the three of them together created that sound, and Rolie b/f. I stand by that. And depending on the song one or more had more influence maybe. I'm not taking your two examples from before. I'm taking the sound of their music during the classic era and seeing Neal's imprint all over it.

We don't disagree on this point. Where I travel a different road from the Schon Suckups is that I believe that Perry's voice was good enough for him to succeed without Schon. Without Perry's voice, nobody knows who Schon is, except hardcore guitar fans!

He sounds great but looks absolutely awful! I can not believe Jounrey mgt would allow him to cut his hair like that unless it's because they are not touring but he looks like a child not a rock singer!
