Okay...here is the deal. I've uncovered this tarnished turd and need someone to post it on here for those who want to torture themselves. It's an MP3 file but I have zero clue how to get it posted here. Post your email address or shoot me a PM with your email address if you can get it posted here. I'll email it directly to you. Just don't give me shit if your computer pukes after listening to it

Well, I made it through half of the song and started dozing off...it sounds like elevator "muzak". I thought at the beginning his voice was not all that bad, but the arrangement was so slow and even, and there was just no emotion whatsoever. Could be on an easy listening radio station however.... or in a department store as background music (!!!).

Um...no it couldn't! Easy listening stations already play Perry's version, ad nauseum! Anyone with two brain cells connected couldn't like this AWFUL version after hearing Perry's flawless rendition of the same song! I personally can't even believe that anyone could make that song sound so shitty, but Friga managed to pull it off!

I don't care about hearing the song.
It's a BEAUTIFUL song that I fell in love with when Perry/Journey sang it!!
I would never have loved the song after hearing this version...Jon you wrote a beautiful piece of Journey
History, PERIOD!!! That aside, I am LMAO at ^^^^Oh Yes I am!!!

You are absolutely right - there is NO comparison to the SP/Journey version. I certainly didn't mean to say that I thought this was better or even OK. It's torture to listen to, pure and simple. I was thinking it was a slam to have it on an easy listening station. Since I don't listen to those kind of stations, I didn't know Perry's version was on them.

Has mission been accomplished yet? Obvious, there must be an agenda, or is this thread just a case of someone flexing their sphincter?

The last two days, this forum had only a few dozen post (compared to the 100+ upstairs), and most of them were for the OT topic about Cher's kid. John's simply getting the forum back on topic. Now if someone can bring the Hello Friga pic down here, we'll be all set to go.

Well call me crazy, but I like it. I've owned the album since it first came out, and I like it on it's own. If you don't compare him to Perry, and just listen to the song... I think it sounds good! Just forget about the original, and hear it for what it is... not bad at all!

Well, I listened to the entire thing and quite frankly it was pretty bad without any comparison to any other version, even that ridiculous country version! The tempo was too slow and the vocals were flat - there's a difference between emoting and actually sounding like it hurts to sing. I had the same expression on my face listening to this as I did when I was in the hospital 2 months ago and the guy in the bed next to me blew chow so hard the spray bounced off the floor and hit my mom on her bare (sandaled) foot!

JC has so much talent as a songwriter and musician, so not being a great vocalist isn't the end of the world. Thanks for posting it John and satisfying my curiousity - at least my ears didn't bleed.

Here's Jimi Jamison singing the Survivor song 'It's the Singer Not the Song':

Sounds like it was recorded on a home computer with a $300 electronic keyboard and a cheap music program.

Certainly highlights how important good production was for Journey's impact. To be honest, listening to this, I rather get the feeling that if it hadn't originally been recorded by Journey with SP singing, doing that elusive meshing-thing with NS, I don't think it would have been anything like a hit. The song is ok, but it was the blend of talent on the original that made it anything special.

Ah, so the only way this forum can stay active and on topic is to start topics about how much you hate something. Like I said the last time this was song was brought up, Journey fandom nowadays is really pathetic.

It's a whole different vibe, but it sure as hell isn't bad. Just different. I liked it.

I'd compare it to listening to Whitney Houston's version of I'll Always Love You vs. Dolly Parton's. Dolly wrote it and delivers it with a real sadness in her voice, while Whitney blows through it as a proclomation.

SP powerfully blows through Faithfully with a lot of emotion and JC slows it down and does it his own. more timid, way.

JC is still a better singer than 90% of the new, pure shit, that is being tossed around by today's new bands.
And don't get me started on Rap and Hip-hop

At least JC is actually SINGING. I'd rather hear JC sing anything than listen to Jay-freakin' Z or Kanye West. What a joke that crap is.

"Agenda"? That's just as ridiculous as "amnesty" was.

It's people discussing music and in this case the topic is a piece of music that some think was sung badly.
Nothing more.

How is there an agenda?

No big deal BJ Girl. Steveo is a douchebag who gets his thong in a bind if everyone isn't praising EVERYTHING a current member of "Journey" does. The dude would be in here with his 5 misfit anal lovers having a circle jerk if Alvin the Chipmunk was singing this (although Alvin would probably make it sound a bit more interesting than Friga)!

I agree here... Its not the BEST VERSION of faithfully, however at the time he wrote the song it was meant for Perry's voice... not his, Years later he recorded it as his OWN tribute to the legacy of the song, he wrote--- nothing more or less...

You're right. He wrote Faithfully while actually on tour with Journey and missing his first wife . Fantastic song and great lyrics relating to the loneliness of being on the road.
