Sometimes, even the drummer for Journey gets bored.

That gentleman — who goes by the name of Deen Castronovo and lives in Keizer — needed something to fill his time since he got off tour, so E.R.M.C. was born. The group — which also includes music luminaries such as Bob Esh on bass and vocals, Brian Phyll Miller on vocals and Jesse Ruggles on guitar and vocals — will be playing all kinds of classic rock — tonight.

There may be some Journey snuck in there, Castronovo said, though they don't have a keyboardist, which complicates things.

Even better, 25 percent of the proceeds will be donated to area nonprofits.

"Union Gospel Mission and the Boys and Girls' Club ... we're just gonna pick one every week that we play and give it to them," Castronovo said.

This is the first of several shows scheduled for E.R.M.C., including a Nov. 21 performance at South Liberty Bar and Grill, and a to-be-announced performance at IKE Box.

The show is for those 21 and older. For more information, call (503) 581-5278.

Deen is my favorite member of Journey... His drumming is INTENSE to say the least.

Arnel's voice is FAR stronger than Deen's voice! Not even close, in my opinion. I like Deen and think he has a nice singing voice. That said, I've never quite got the yahoos on this board who cream in their pants when he sings "Mother/Father". I personally think Arnel could do that song a whole lot more justice, simply because of the power he has. Again, this isn't a knock on Deen. He simply doesn't bring enough power to the table to sing "Mother/Father", in my opinion!
