Less time for a haircut if you take English/pronunciation lessons! There we go

But I have always stated, even complained last off tour period, that he needs to stay with a diction coach, especially since he goes back to the Phils and backslides, and needs to improve, not backtrack while in his homeland and have to come back to just status quo each tour. And also for the benefit and polish of delivery on the new CD.

But having said that, he was flat-out amazing in my concert in Orlando by the end of September, and I'm not exaggerating. Myself nor any of my friends heard any diction problems that were noticeable.

You're so bitter lately. You have an option to turn your back from this current line-up of Journey, you know. Just sayin.....

I agree, he needs to be working hard to IMPROVE.

Where we disagree is you don't believe he is right for Journey according to your post in the other thread. I do. He's the best thing that has happened to Journey since Perry. As much as I love Arnel and loved him last year, I didn't expect him to be as fantastic and to have come so far fronting Journey this year when I saw him. He was so amazing, as was the whole band, esp Neal and Deen, that I regretted not seeing more shows. I have a Journey/Perry friend who saw four this year, and is a fan again b/c of Arnel's voice and loved every show. So I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on him being right for Journey.

See I was totally on board when he first came on - he has a hell of a voice. You won't find me anywhere denying that or questioning that. For me, the lack of improvement on the issues is what has soured me. He has been given an unbelievable opportunity and he should be working hard to maximize his potential.

It's kind of like when one of my sports teams gets an undeniably great athlete filled with potential and talent and they don't train as hard as they should. They might still be effective on the court/field, but eventually I just sour on them totally because they refuse to try and correct their problems.

Now, I obviously can't account for what Arnel does in his spare time, but one thing's for sure, going back over there and going on all of these shows singing and living full-time back there are NOT the keys to him correcting his diction and saving his voice from blowing out.

Problem is as GB said, he's serving two masters. Journey should've bought him out with an exclusive contract.

Seeing these little accapellas of tunes without the band don't benefit him imo. His fans should think twice about posting them on youtube.

Sure he sings them ok and yes he's promoting Journey in a way but to what end?

Helloooo, it's heritage night....celebrating the success of a fellow Filipino who happens to be the lead singer of Journey. Nothing wrong with belting out a tune. Actually, in my culture, it's impolite not grant the request of the audience.

I can I see the point of some people here about other performances but not on this..this is so petty.

I'm not saying he shouldn't do them in these gatherings, but how is publicizing these worldwide helpful to Arnel?

He's already got the job. It's only downhill from here. Remember, with this bands history, it doesn't take much to be shown the exit door.

How true. You either lose your voice or not be the right voice for the band and you no longer have a job.

I don't see anything wrong with it since it's in keeping with the celebration/gathering.

I am fully aware of the band's history and that's why I am trying to enjoy every minute of it. But so far, so good.

I agree with ya Jana!
I just don't hear what people are hearing as for as diction, etc. The guy's been nothing but good for the band. Oh well, another day, another post about why Arnel should be there...

That's funny. He said he would get in trouble for singing it, but went ahead and did a snippet. He sounded great and just did a brief clip.

Maybe he made those appearances in the Philippines for his foundation. He seems like a sweet, generous person; I don't think Journey would object to him performing for charity.

P.S. I absolutely love the sideburns--they look like Perry's old sideburns. Neal, grow some sideburns out and also, let your hair grow out a little--it's such a great, sexy look. I try to get my old man (lol) to grow out his sideburns but he just smiles at me.

He was under the weather at that time. See the difference of his voice in this video.
