Journey and R&R HOF

I think Journey doesn't get into the HOF until they and Perry come to terms. The Hall is all about marketability and if they think Perry will be a no-show at the induction ceremony, I believe the powers that be won't even consider letting the band in.

Agreed.......it won't happen if he won't show...end of story

They would want him their just to talk about DSB, even though we've heard about the song ad nauseum over the last few years.

Agreed that he won't show, because they would want him to actually perform LIVE. It will never happen.

At least Gregg Rolie is in. I wonder if he called Neal when he got the invitation?

GR: Dude, you going?

NS: Nah, Bro. That fucking Carlos didn't invite me.

GR: Bummer, well maybe you're turn's next

NS: Yeah, sure

And the years go rolling by.

Yep. It could be that Journey, like Styx and REO just won't get in because of the corporate/generic rock label that has stuck with them all these years. The Power ballad may not be quite the innovation the Hall is looking for on its list of criteria needed for entry.

So Pop legend Madonna gets in - operative word Pop.  I love Madonna, but ROR Hall of Fame. Come on.

I would think that Journey would care less about getting in after all the snubs but that little voter button on their official website says else wise (unless that was Lori's doing when she was in PR /Girlfriend mode)

I disagree.

It's not about marketability.

The nominating committee has been messed up for years and for Journey, it's not just about the beak yo!

Plus, they have teamed up with Rolling Stone Magazine...offering a free subscription when you purchase x$ worth of Merch. Seems like Journey is playing the game.

All the links above proved my point. It is about marketability. An older white act, Dave Clark Five gets pushed aside for an act that brings in different type of audience, a hip hop fan base, a predominately minority fan base, that might not be accessible if the HOF stuck with rock acts only. Isn't that marketing?

He'd show. He showed for the Hollywood Walk of Fame, so why not this?

yeah but the inductees normally perform, don't they? So he'd have to perform with Journey...

Not to validate half the trash in the hall, but I truly think the band has soiled any chance at getting in the Rock Hall with the singer carousel. This is not a place for airing the problems and merits of each replacement singer, but it's just so laughable to an objective, outside observer. They probably don't deserve to get in any more.

You would have to choose who would actually be getting inducted. Do you tell Augeri no since he didn't have much record selling success with them but Pineda yes even though he doesn't have the years with the band that S.A. does. Does Ansley get in as a member when they first found success? Do you only put in the Escape/Frontiers line up as that was the most successful or do you add in Rolie or do you not add Greg as he's already in with Santana?

What a cluster fuck.

There has been talk of limiting the induction to once only as Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck have been inducted multiple times because of their affiliation with other groups along with their achievements as solo artists.

Augeri and Pineda cannot be inducted anyway. It had to be 25 years after your first release, or your release with a band.

All members included on a release prior to 1984 can be in.

Are you sure? It looks like a gray area to me. It does make sense though and would cut Journey's members list in half. I was trying to calculate if that would have effected Schon going in with Santana but it looks like he would have made the cut off by a year or two if that was the case.
