What??? Journey is back to the popularity where they used to be, they dont need to do the 3 package deal anymore! Come on. At most just tour with one supporting act, they have already proven they can do it.

Who knows, maybe Styx & Kansas threw a chunk of money at them for this one month. Even though Journey said they wouldn't be touring in 2010, maybe this one month is a nice pay day and it will help keep them all tuned-up before 2011...and maybe they'll try out some new material...?

Great news. I don't really listen to Kansas, though, but Styx is great news.

I like some of their songs, but haven't really followed them.
But you can't go, anyway, b/c you hate Journey.

So when will Neal do his solo tour? And when is Arnel going to take a break and work on some of his shortcomings? Is that one month a summer month? Really surprised that Azoff would okay this. Why the need to do a package deal?

I knew that couldn't stay away for a whole year.

Ugh...I have no use for Kansas or Styx. Would have much rather seen Bryan Adams and Foreigner with them instead. I'm still thinking a Journey/Triumph tour is gonna happen at some point.

Yeah, what a bonus! That would definitely seal the deal.

Apparently, there has been talk of this since Oct 14.

Rumors of a Styx-Journey-Kansas tour are floating, but for now the band {Kansas} is lining up university symphony dates through 2012. "Hopefully, heading toward the 40th anniversary and then," Ehart says, "who knows what happens."

Why does it suck? It's WAY better than taking an entire year off and fading out of the public eye. That plan made no sense at all. It will be a fun package tour that will sell tickets. It's only four weeks long. Probably 15 shows. Nothing earth-shattering. It will be a great set-up for the huge summer 2011 album amphitheater tour.

I would do this tour!! STYX and KANSAS... with Journey... Journey does need the package...
especially if they want to do arenas...
otherwise... with economy the way it is, it would not be a money maker for the promotional guys...
journey might do well in some regions but not all regions of the usa...

Would sure save AP's vocie not having to sing as long. Plus keep them on the road, and since they don't have a new cd, what can it hurt.

Nah, no way. Journey doesnt need to do the package deal. They were selling out many arenas when they just toured with heart in a crappy economy. I live in Michigan, the state that has the highest unemployment rate and they nearly sold out Van Andel arena which seats 12,000. They have already proven they dont need to take a step backwards and do the triple package stuff again. Thats for reo, styx..etc. There popularity is WAY up.
I think it would be cool if Journey teamed up with Chicago or Foreigner.

I don't think Journey is trying to make it big with this tour. To me, it seems that this is just to get back on the road and avoid any rust that might come from taking a whole year off. They'll be able to book amphitheaters next summer with one opener and a new album.

HEART was the KEY with them through out the country people loved the package!!

Isn't that the very definition of a package? Heart isn't simply an opening act, so them (or a comparable band) on the bill makes it a package. I agree with you that their popularity is up, but they WILL NOT be booked into amphitheaters or arenas by themselves. Bring along another band or two to make it a great value night of music. That's how you bring people into the seats.

I say they tour with Bon Jovi, who still has a ton of mainstream pull, and call it the Bon-Jour Tour.

Yes, Heart is popular, but Journey was the main attraction and brought the people to the concert. Heart certainly helped, but most people came for Journey. Journey had the platinum album, huge resurgence in popularity, and television publicity.
Journey could do the same thing when they tour next time by just having one band co headline or open for them like foreigner, bryan adams, chicago..etc.

Thats exactly what i said. Journey doesnt need to do the triple package stuff anymore, just book ONE band with them such as: Bryan Adams, Foreigner, chicago. Personally i would like to see foreigner and Journey do a summer concert. I think that would do very well.
