Amen. That said ... I'm not really sold on this lineup (The Neal Schon Band). Gonna have to see them live I guess. I'm pretty confident they'll come to Chicago.

Great find Jana! I enjoyed the interview - I wonder if the guys archived all of their old interviews? Whenever they did them, would they have a copy sent to them? That would be a great archive to screen!

I agree - great interview. It's hard not to like a guy who's so passionate about music. He lives and breathes it!

So no more Journey.....again? :P

When Assoff and Neal decide they need another paycheck, prolly in 2012 or so, there might once again be a Journey. LOL

Well, Arnel seems pretty happy doing his cover gigs, Cain has his daughter's career to keep him busy and Neal, who has never done a solo tour from what I recall has about 30 years of music to finally get out there to live audiences. Journey will be back but with the continuous erosion of CD sales, don't expect them to top Revelation's sales or anything like that when they hit the stage again. Neal mentioned before that the days of big tours like they did in 2008 were pretty much over for the band. With the way Arnel's contract is worded regarding performing consecutive shows, it would seem highly unlikely for them to replicate that touring schedule anyway.
They rode Pineda hard during that initial tour and he was spent to the point where they had to cancel the autumn session with Foreigner. That pretty much established what his threshold was for touring the Journey catalog and don't forget, the singing was done in original key, something else that has gone by the wayside now.

Great interview. Thanks for posting. Never saw this one before. Loved what he had to say about Clapton and his joking around about Sammy.

I've never actually seen a beer bottle thrown from the stage into the audience.

It's rather late, so it took me a minute, but I laughed when I got this! SJ has been a vocal supporter of Journey's current lineup - I thought he would only need a disguise if Steve Perry rejoined the band.

Dan, you are totally safe from being voted off the island at MRFEST2 for finding this.

#2 of this jam session features Deep Forest from "Beyond the Thunder" and 31-91 from Hardline "Double Eclipse".

p.s. that was a private deal at NAMM so none of us got to go. we knew about it and who was playing with him but we couldn't find out where it was in time enough to crash it. (!!!!!)

Tommy Shaw has great clips from his shows at NAMM posted on the Styx site. No luck with Neal and his band.

I wonder how Neal feels that his old solo band outside of Journey (Planet US) has taken flight and has become a commercial success? I mean 3 of the 5 members that were supposed to be in Planet US are in Chickenfoot.

He's happy for them. All are good friends of his.
