Why didn't Gregg Rolie show up? Rolie appeared later that week at NAMM according to Neal in an interview at NAMM back then and mentioned he didn't appear at the WOF ceremony. Would it have something to do with when they were reforming and Perry jumped back in in '96 and so Chalfant and Rolie were out and so hard feelings or something else? Does any longtimer on here know?

Maybe he was looking forward to a REAL HOF engagement w/Santana :)

J/K... does make you wonder,though.

I think after Going into the HOF in 98 with Santana, the WOF might not have appeared so alluring, especially if you have to pay for it like they have you do for the R&R HOF.

He had other commitments that day. I know it was mentioned on a bunch of web news sites that covered the event, and may have been mentioned at the event itself (I wasn't there, so I can't confirm that part).

So everyone can now tuck away their bullshit conspiracy theories on this.

You're right...why kill some good entertainment so early? It was all Perry's motive back in 95. Had nothing to do with recording TBF. It was all about sticking it to Rolie if/when they got their WOF Star.

Seriously, there's nothing to read into this. He was there for the BAMMIES WOF award (Perry wasn't). He wouldn't intentionally miss this award ceremony out of spite or controversy. Plus, NOBODY knew that Perry was showing up for the Hollywood WOF award.

So, in analogy,if you already have an HOF award, is the WOF award the equivalent of winning the NIT in college basketball?

Not if it's for two different basketball teams. Different bands, different bodies of work.

Knowing how the R&R HOF works, I'm sure that all members of Journey are more than happy to accept whatever well deserved accolades are thrown their way.
