As you can always expect from Hugo, this show will deliver nothing less than an incredible mind-blowing musical experience!

Visit our new website at www.voyageband.com and come out to see us. We have a bunch of dates lined up with Voyage including our Valentines Day Debut!! Saturday, February 13, 2010 at the Canal Room.

Thanks again for all your loyal support and we look forward to seeing all of you soon.

-Voyage

Please note that Voyage is in no way affiliated with any current or former members of the band Journey.

I thought Hugo said he was done with the tribute circuit. I must have read wrong.

It's just plain weird. He even got that tilt your head back and close your eyes thing, that SP did. It's too creepy.

Should read: "I am going to dress up like SP, run around the stage just like he did, wear my hair like he did and make all the facial expressions and moves like he did, but..... this is not a theatrical performance."

He doesn't look like him though. It gives a new definition to the Rocky Horror Picture show.

Hugo- Please stop doing this and be your own man. Your stuff's decent. Focus on that rather than this....

There is a difference between being a tribute, and being a flat out ripoff. Damn. Find your own identity man. You are a shrinks wet dream.

Maybe. But this actually might pay a few bills. Sad but true.

yep....nobody is going to survive very long selling 5,000 cds. My guess is he just enjoys being in a band, and the Journey tribute actually allows his to play live, have fun, and make some money on the side. He's doing better than most, and nobody criticizes the 50,000 other Journey tribute singers.

Speaking thereof, I wonder if he is working on a new solo cd. It's been a few years since the last one.

Nobody criticizes them because nobody's heard of them. Hugo's albums are great and they should be selling.
I think that he would have much more success with his original stuff than the Journey stuff. Maybe not.

His solo material is really good, but who's going to play them....or more truthfully, who's got the money to push the album? Not Frontiers Records. They've got enough publicizing power to cover the melodic rock scene, but breaking anybody into mainstream is pretty $$$$, and generally well beyond their budget. The fact that no Frontiers acts have done it yet (to the best of my knowledge) should say something. It's not a criticism, just the way it is. That's not counting the fact that Journey-styled AOR isn't exactly the rave anywhere. This isn't 1986.

Sad to say, the reality of 2010 is that a live Journey tribute band is MUCH more profitable than a Hugo solo cd--especially if you count the corporate shows, where the real money is.

That's Ian Astbury. He's not with them anymore. He went back to fronting The Cult.

That is pretty creepy though.

Hugo's old band, Evolution, has a new vocalist. Has a more powerful voice than Hugo, and isn't a Perry doppelganger.

Exactly. Why is everyone being so harsh towards Hugo? Sheesh!!! ARNEL, NEAL, JON, ROSS, AND DEEN ARE DOING THE SAME DAMN THING!!!

Without Steve Perry in the lineup, it's always going to be a Journey tribute band - period. So what if Hugo acts the part a little better? More power to him!!!!

I think some of you are missing the point as to why people think the guy should find his own identity. So re-read the thread, close your eyes, and think really really hard. Then go eat a bagel. You'll feel better.

NOT even. It appears that many fans disagree with that sentiment as they're apparently going to the shows and buying the album. And Voyager, regarding your Av- Nice ones Cain!

Unless Hugo sold his business, he still has that as well as his music and the tribute band.I've talked to several different tribute band singers and asked them why they do this ,and one answer that always came up was "to keep my voice ready" Practice makes perfect...so to speak.

This guy isn't one dimensional like most of the other tribute band singers. He actually got signed to columbia and Rca back when that meant something. He still is making cds 20 yrs later that people want more of+ the business he has....the tribute band is just something extra that he does for fun, its just an aside to all the other stuff he is involved in at the present.

It's basically the same reason people think Arnel should find his own identity. Different faces, same argument. You may as well tell Jeremey to do some soul-searching to find himself while you're at it.

Again, not the same. I'm too tired to explain it. But it's documented here in this thread. Well, wait, I'm not too tired to explain it. I just don't feel like explaining it.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go make snow angels in the snow, followed by opening a can of chickpeas. Then I'm going to pretend that I'm cleaning my office, when in fact all I'll be doing is shuffling some papers back and forth. I may take a nap in between.

Sigh....some people will never get it. Here is a clue.........Arnel works for the real band, penis hole. Arnel has his own identity and dose not dress, move or act like SP. He channels the familiar sound of SP on the classics because that is what people come to hear. Listen to the Revelation material. AP doesn't sound like SP, except a hint of legacy sound. So, I guess Journey actually plays a tribute to themselves...oh wait...key word alert...themselves Who is themselves? Oh, Journey...almost forgot.
