Looks like Neal will be in the studio with BBC2 on the 25th.

Looks like you can listen to a rebroadcast for 7 days (I think).

Cool.
How did you manage to spot that?

I really must read the radio listings. I bet I miss loads of good stuff by not doing so.

The two songs he picked today were I Can See For Miles (The Who) and Everybody's Everything (Santana). He talked about being a huge fan of the Who and how he loved how alive they were on stage. When he talked about Santana, he mentioned how Carlos' style rubbed of on him and how this particular song was the first one he performed while in London. He said something about Clapton, Hendrix and Beck being there at the performance.

Schon is supposed to be back for two more selections tomorrow.

Neal's choices today were Roxanne by the Police and Satisfaction by the Rolling Stones.
Neal talked about Geoff Workman introducing him to the music of the Police while Journey was in Studio working on Infinity. He said he dug how they had the reggae thing going on, a little bit of punk energy but more musically evolved.
Neal says he and his cousins saw the Stones with Brian Jones in San Jose, when he was 11 years old. Schon had just started messing around with the guitar and thought those guys were amazing, a bit punky for that era.

Man has taste.

BTW, what's the dillio on these, is he playing these songs on guitar or just talking about them as likes.

He's just talking about them. The show has guests every week that pick their own two songs every day. I think they'll have Meatloaf and Todd Rundgren next week. Neal's been on every day this week but it's only for a few minutes. Cool to hear him giving props to other musicians that he likes and seeing how diverse his own musical tastes are.

On Saturday, I'll be getting tickets for Neal's show next month at the HOB on Sunset. It will be great to see him perform live, doing stuff I've never seen the five times I've seen him with Journey.

For only 25 bucks a ticket, it's a great deal to see such an immense talent.

A Day In The life - Beatles
Along The Watch Tower - Jimi Hendrix

Neal was asked about how he feels about Journey music being timeless. He started talking about the group finally having a top 10 record in the UK with a song from 1986? He said the year twice but I think he just flubbed up. There sure isn't anything from ROR currently on the British charts.

Said he ranked Hendrix number one as far as electrical guitarist go but he gave major props to Jeff Beck who he really appears to idolize along with Clapton.

If you were looking to hear about current Journey, don't bother listening to these interviews, Neal never mentioned anything beyond Perry coming on board for infinity. These snippets were really just about Neal, even DSB was never mentioned by name even though it was obvious that was the song Schon was talking about being on the UK charts at the moment.

I can't tell if you like Beck more than I do Bruce? Pretty close eh? I guess those two "wrote" a little diddy in 20 minutes a the NYC RnRHOF concerts this past year. Interesting. Steve Van Zandt says it was a catchy tune and also he hasn't seen a better guitar player than Jeff Beck.

Good to see you around here again.

Something that makes Beck really great these days is the young girl he has on bass, Tal Wilkenfeld. She's quite the player. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wK03pYCL ... re=related
