Arnel struggled for more than 2 decades to gain local renown (in singing)...
Q: Did you think at the age of 40, such a break will still come your way?
A: No more. Actually I was already disheartened...
From the street to the stage dominated by (the international rock band) Journey...
Q: Why did you get hooked on drugs?
A: I was stupid, I was bored, I was doing the same old thing everyday...

Hell, most rock stars probably come from fortuitous circumstances and possible hard knocks. We didn't hear about Augeri being a Gap salesman at every turn or about Perry being a goddamn chicken farmer at every turn, did we? It's all about the international bent, which is fine in small doses, but get over it already, it's been what, over 2 years?

.... well, we DID hear about Perry losing his mom forever...
We did hear about Augeri and the Gap a lot.

We heard about it, yes, but it wasn't the focal point of every concert review, puff piece, and feature piece on the band, was it?

If you dig deep through other rock stars pasts, you'll find guys who were sleeping on the streets in Hollywood, eating jelly sandwiches or ramen for years on end trying to support themselves. The difference with those other singers are they had to make it on pure talent as there was no ready made legacy to drop them into, where they could just step in and sing with no other requirements needed.
We will see how the promotion for the next album plays out and if the band goes to the well once too often, trying to push the poor-boy sympathy angle one more time.
Personally, I don't think so. The film documentary about Arnel is having a hard enough time getting funding as you can only live off of people's emotional charity for so long before they turn you off.

I wasn't aware of any funding issues. I thought it was a done deal and they were just trying to decide on the best way to release it....HBO, DVD, Theater, etc.

They need a distributor, that's why you shop it around at film festivals, looking for someone to pick it up.

Which, as I understand, is common practice. How does that indicated a funding problem? Maybe the air has leaked out of this whole idea is the real issue. The story has been told aplenty and I probably wouldn't go out and spend money on it.

Part 4 - Per AP when Journey was performing at Download Festivals, many iconic band members were watching their set like Depp, Queen, Whitesnakes. That's so cool.
