Kidding aside, cool of Jon:

American Idol favorite Bo Bice and Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain are among the songwriters helping Nashville's Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival expand its horizons for the 2010 installment, which takes place March 30 through April 3 at eight Nashville music venues.

Where is Enigma869? I can't see him passing up an opportunity like this to comment on JC's singing.

I honestly don't see why he would, because they are his songs, he sings them for that they are in my opinion. The man is a genious as far as I am concerned. He was the major contributer to the creation of those songs, and if anything he sings them correctly for what they are, nothing more, nothing less.

I agree!!! Carole Bayer Sager and Burt Bacharach are multi~award winning songwriters and they aren't the best singers either, but I love it
when they do medley's of their songs for a special event. However, I would never purchase a cd of them singing their own songs...nooooo!!

JC is the fuckin' man. That was awesome and I really liked the country twang to DSB. I can't think of another keys player that has as many instantly recognizable opening keys parts as JC. I'd say from 1981 on this guy has been the MVP of Journey, followed closely by Perry and Schon. :) 8)

This clip DOES hint at what Journey music might sound like unplugged. I've never been too keen on the idea because Neal's soaring electric lead guitar sound is such an integral part of the band, but now I'm intrigued. I don't know if I'd wanna go to a show, but a one-off performance filmed for CD/DVD would be cool, especially on songs like Send her my love and I'll Be Alright Without You

When will Friga be on American Idol? Do you think he's enemies with Randy Jackson over the Steve Perry thing?

Randy went to see them, when they hired Arnel, in their studio and commented about Arnel to People Magazine. He's friends with Neal. And he's friends with Steve. Sounds like Randy gets along great with everyone. Don't expect Jon on AI to mentor, b/c he's not well-known to the average person. And I don't see Journey ever being asked to be on without Perry b/c of Randy's ties to that era and Steve.

I dont see you having hit songs, a grammy nomination, selling millions of albums, and having music on the radio. How many grammy nominations did you have? Top ten hits? Music awards? ZERO. Yeah thats what I thought.

Um, how many Granmy awards does Cain have? Zero. That's what I thought.

His pop songs are just that, pop, and that's ok I guess, but they're hardly considered lyrical masterpieces, dude; and oh yeah, take away Steve Perry and this guy is playing the Sports Page Tavern in Hutchinson, Kansas with the Baby's for $200 a night.

Take the blinders off Zorro. He is a fantastic pop writer, but that's it. He will never be mentioned in the great lists of songwriters.

May be a wild guess, but I agree!! Waite wouldn't/couldn't sing his hit song and Perry who could sing it took a risk
with the cheesy lyrics and turned it into a vocal masterpiece ...did that with a few other cheesy songs as well!! Without his voice...meh!!
Besides~ it took a real ladies man to do this and be taken seriously!!! :D The songs they (Schon, Cain , Perry) did together were much better!!
Course, I'm not familiar w/the hits he/Cain has written for other artists ...can anyone list them for me?!?!

Without Cain, Perry wrote a mediocre album called FTLOSM with the help of like a bazillion co-writers.

Lame Jana. Without Perry, Cain never wrote a good album, period. Oh, I do believe Street Talk sold 2 million on it's own, without the help of Cain.
