Just saw that the repeat of Journey's appearance on Oprah is on again this Thursday the 18th.

Yeah I know, but the majority of my post still stands. They are creatively bankrupt. I am seeing if they can make me a fan again with this next effort. I am not holding my breath, but will keep an open mind. They certainly won't get my concert money, as i can watch the same concert by them on my tv. They never play anything different so why pay to see them?

Yeah I know, but the majority of my post still stands. They are creatively bankrupt. I am seeing if they can make me a fan again with this next effort. It really is sad that I've heard a different set list out of Frontiers with at least 2 or 3 different gems all 6 times I've seen them than I have in seeing Journey 8 or 9 times. Really sad.

Journey has really mixed up the setlist the times I've seen them the last several years. 2002-2004 (some shows in 2004 were long, but not the one I saw) was repetitive, but they've done a relatively good job with the setlist since. Funny story... I had not seen this thread... I just went downstairs to the lobby of my building - there's a TV in the seating area - and there was Arnel... I didn't see right away that it was the Oprah show.... the front office girl was watching it too and I went "Hey! There's Arnel!" She goes "Yeah!" (I have no idea if she is a J fan though, but she seemed to know who he was). I was randomly chatting with her and I said "He is the nicest guy, I got to met him last year..." She goes, "You MET him?!"

So yeah, random Journey moment popped up on my way to grab a coffee refill. Weird.

Last year we got Keep on running, still they ride and Escape, and we got three or four new songs, too, for a 90-minute show.

Exactly. An album that got really good reviews from music reviewers, and these songs have translated well live in concert. I've enjoyed every song they do live from Revelation, even if a couple aren't my favorite. It's a good album, not a great album, but some songs on there that I love.

Glad to see that you agree with me on the pathetic attempts to make a buck on the CDs. I brought up almost the same point in another post yesterday...seems like there are no boundaries attempting to get their music into the top 10, as if they already assume that the music no longer speaks for itself.

What in the fuck are you two dopes talking about? The show being aired again was in no way dictated by Journey! Now they run the Oprah show. It's simply the time of year that the show plays reruns of the most popular episodes. The only people that are "desperate" are you two. Constantly trying to find a way to illegitimize an album that's moved 1.1 million units. Keep trying, ladies, because you can piss on the bon fire all you want but it's not going to make a difference.

Any dipshit would know that whatever Oprah/Ellen/Letterman/whatever shows are re-aired have nothing to do with the guests requesting it to do so. I was agreeing with Deano because I made similar comments about goofy attempts to sell their CDs...give aways at concerts, tie ins with re-hashed material, etc. I never heard the new material, so I never did, nor would I ever critique it or whoever enjoys it. Listen to what you like, I'm not losing sleep over that. My critique is on the shameless use of the old to sell the new. And yes, I am guilty...guilty of getting enjoyment out of russling up your feathers....it's just so damn easy to do.

Arnel is adorable.

I also caught this repeat today - didn't really get a good look/sound of Arnel before today. He seems like a humble, nice guy and has a good voice (sure beats Augeri on Generations) but still it will always be the Perry-era Journey that I love. I think Arnel looks kinda out-of-place with the rest of the band until he starts rockin it out.

Nah, the rest of the band is out of place. Arnel is the star, the rest of 'em old rockers of a few decades ago. (Isn't that what the general Pinoys who attended the Manila concert thought?) LOL
