So, this makes me wonder...

If they're still using Wmart to distribute, could Wmart say "Sorry Journey, this album's too heavy. Please go and put 4 or 5 ballads on it, then we'll release it".

Man, I sure hope not.

no way will they do another Wal-Mart thing. all these exclusives have been dependent on re-recordings (Kiss, Journey, REO, etc)...they're one-shot deals. My guess is the new Journey disc will be far less successful sales-wise, although I have high hopes for it musically.

It may do well, if they would get it online for digital download sales. Whoever is driving the ship had better get with the times.

Azoff seems to have a great relationship with Wal Mart and if they want another Eagles deal he may be able to pull Journey in as part of a package.

Has there been any indication or mention from the Journey camp (Azoff, Schon, Cain) that they are negotiating another WalMart deal?
Who knows...maybe they'll go with Best Buy :?: How well did Chickenfoot do with their exclusive deal? Great album, BTW!

Has this been addressed before? Didn't Wal Mart grant the Eagles permission to sell the CD online and in other stores after a year or two of its initial release? Did Journey not get a similar deal It seems to me that it would have been nice to have the "new" music available on iTunes and Amazon during this Glee "promotional" run.

Not sure who is going to release it but it looks like early 2011. My guess is Walmart again with the Arnel documentary as a bonus disc.

From Kevin Shirley: http://www.cavemanproductions.com/cavediary.htm

News - the new Journey album recording is almost finished - we have a few lead vocals to do, Neal wants to do a few segueways and we'll get to those and the mix in November, and I think that should wrap it up for an early 2011 release..

Arnel's story has been told and retold so many times,
I don't know what else such 'bonus' material can offer.

Just include good music without fear of the present, or
a hollow worship of the past.

If the new album spawns a minor hit or two, that's all
the 'bonus' it'd need. If not, then good music is always
worth the cost of purchase.

I wouldn't mind a live bonus disk of songs from the last two years, like extended What I Needed, even extended version of Separate Ways, Turn Down the World Tonight, When You Love a Woman, Rubicon, Change for the Better. A bonus disk of about nine to ten songs performed live I would love.
