Hi Everyone.... Went to see Gregg Rolie at Mohegan last night and all I can say is they were fantastic.
They did a nice mix of songs... some Santana... some new stuff ... and even some Journey (which surprised me for some reason).... it was a great night, and I was so happy that they came to the East Coast... after the show they had a meet & greet for anyone who wanted.

Crazy - Gregg never seems to play Journey with his band.

Wish I would have been around to see it.

That's why I was surprised when they did do a few Journey tunes....
If I remember correctly they played...
Just the Same Way, Anytime, and Lights..... they had a singer from another band(Evolution- a Journey Tribute Band) to do SP parts ... he was very good although it lacked the tone of SP. I think on the website for EvolutionBand.com he mentions how
Gregg Rolie asked him to join him at Mohegan and Philly if I recall correctly.

Great Show... if you ever get the chance... go see them!!

Evolution’s lead vocalist, John Robert Murphy, will be performing songs from super group Journey during a portion of The Gregg Rolie Band’s concert at Mohegan Sun on June 19th, 2010.

Gregg Rolie is one of the founding members of the mega-bands Santana and Journey, as well as his current Gregg Rolie Band. His singing talents will forever be immortalized by his lead vocals on classic Santana hits including “Black Magic Woman”, “Evil Ways” and “Oye Como Va”.

Rolie co-wrote and coproduced the band’s first seven albums and toured extensively with Journey. He remained through multiple personnel changes, including Steve Perry as lead vocalist in 1978, before exiting after the hugely successful 1981 live double album “Captured”.

Gregg Rolie contacted John with an opportunity to perform with his “Gregg Rolie Band” June 19th at the Mohegan Sun and also at the Lakeside Amphitheater in Lakeland Ohio on June 25th. John will be singing four popular Journey songs that Gregg Rolie wrote as part of Journey in their heyday.

John, having joined Evolution in early 2010, notes that this is a huge opportunity and great promotion for Evolution in the Journey tribute world.

Journey's not doing anything this summer, it's a great idea for Gregg to finally throw some Journey tunes into the setlist and get a little of the Glee love for himself.

Lead singer Murphy is/was a local resident. The band performs at his hometown.
