Portland’s SHML thread got me listening to this Frontier’s pre-release promo tape. I've found the excerpt that has Jon telling how he came up with the title. He & Steve wrote the song together. And, along with Faithfully, SHML became one of Steve's favorite songs to sing live.

A cda file doesn't work if you don't have the disc. All it does is point to the track, like a short cut on your hard drive. Can you rip the file through Windows Media Payer and upload it as a MP3 or WMA?

To me, SHML is the true to sequel to Faithfully, not so much a ballad as a semi-bitter ode to love lost, like "Who's Crying Now".
These are the songs that really show the great writing abilities of the guys. Anyone can write a love song. Writing about falling out of love though doesn't seem to be so simple though.
Probably one of the reasons Hi-InFidelity did so well, selling ten million copies. Love and broken hearts are for Air Supply. Things like Pain and Bitterness though are what makes for great rock ballads.

I'm saying REO's Hi-Infidelity had the Harsher love songs with Take it on the run and Keep on loving you as opposed to the type of love songs that Air Supply was putting out at that time.

Oh, Gotcha. Don't really know either group that well. Just know some of their hits from the radio...but wouldn't be able to recite song for song like I can with Journey

Thanks Annie....it's nice to see how songs came together.
SHML had always been at the top of my list for Journey songs.
