Could Augeri open for Journey?

Who likes this idea?

Obviously, he couldn't - and shouldn't - play any Journey tunes. But I think it could be a cool way for the band to honor the man who "helped the Journey continue," and it would put Augeri back in front of the very people who love him.

Are you hitting the bong dude? Perhaps you are on Meth? Such a comment/question is ridiculous. You have any idea the history of Augeri with Journey, and how it ended? Yeah, I am sure Journey will associate itself with the guy who damned near brought an end to their careers. Next time you re chumming it up with Schon, ask him about his thoughts on Augeri. You'll get your answers then.

Open? no, I don't think so, what would he sing if not Journey songs? And how would you bill it? Journey and the former lead singer of Journey, Steve Augeri?

Now, I could see him sitting in for a few songs like Rolie did last year. That would be cool.

It would be cool, SA is awesome ...but I think you need to have a family meeting!! You are either
quickly becoming a black sheep, like your brothers, or someone just forgot to inform
you of some important family history!!

Totally agree with Deano here with he exception that the band themselves damned near brought an end to their career. While I always liked Augeri, they should have made a change when his voice was going south, or change the key they played live like they have some with Arnel, and never done what they did.

 :?
Really? Augeri, by all accounts is a great guy & a class act, but seriously. If he ever does join Journey on stage, could we ever really be sure that...well, you know... 8) . We're not that far removed from the whole "tapegate" fiasco.

I think the it would just dredge up a lot of the negative history. There's no point in picking the scab off an old wound.

Steve Augeri is a pretty smart guy and a class act, I don't think he'd let
Neal Corleone put him in that position ever again!!! *Spoken in my best

oooh...

Augeri, with this new record coming out later this fall.... its like he is starting over... he needs to do club dates and smaller venues...and work like hell to win some fans back... and tour everywhere... no way opens for journey or anyone at this stage...

Why would he want to open for the band that damn near ended HIS career.

I honestly never got the sense there's bad blood between the two camps. And was tapegate ever proven?

He wouldn't, although he had his career resurrected by Journey did he not? He was working at the Gap for Christ sakes.

Journey only sold out a little more than half their shows with legitimate openers (Heart and Cheap Trick) in 2008. There is no way Azoff will allow the band to use an opening act that doesn't have a history on the charts.

I wonder when Augeri's non-disclosure agreement ends, if ever?

Maybe he'll have a crisis of morality and want to unload for some magazine offering an adequate amount of compensation?

If anyone can get bands to bury old hatchets, it's Azoff.

That is not what I am saying. Besides the older and more damaging issues of Journey probably using vocal tapes for Augeri during past tours, the selling factor isn't there. For a lot of people's money, they want a two for one; Journey/Heart, Journey/Pat Benatar, etc. Most of the people will be asking who Augeri is and I'm willing to bet even the majority of Journey fans have absolutely no knowledge of his career outside of Journey.
Not the guy to make your package more attractive to a frugal public looking for the best show possible for the cheapest price, that's for sure.

Dude, are you for real? Azoff my appear to you, to be a band healer, but let me clue you in on why he resurrected the Eagles and not Journey. The Eagles were/are a huge money making entity while together. Money was the glue that put the Egles back together, Azoff just applied it. Now look at Journey. Azoff sure as Hell hasn't resurrected Journey to half of what their 80's status was. Yeah, losing Perry is a factor, but my point is that money was the key ingredient. Azoff was and is merely a broker to the Eagles, and whatever to Journey. Seriously, have you seen Azoff actively promote Journey or it's music/dvd's? He is certainly no Jon Lndu or Bruce Allen. The guy is busy merging major ticket compnies and stockpiling his bank account. Tell me this. Why hasn't Azoff been able to reunite Perry with his bandmates? I am sure there have had to be an opportune time for that to happen. Seriously, Azoff is a status quo manager.

Oh and lest I forget your question on tapegate. You are not too dialed in on Journey history are you? Yes it was proven, beyond the shadow of any doubt, despite what a very average bass player will tell the European media. Ask Augeri if it was real.

Gunbot, from what I was told by a band member was SA's silence is supposed to be forever.

Yes, really, I think it would be nice to have him sing a couple of songs. Most people outside of this Board don't even know about "tapegate" and some of us don't care that much.

Hasn't Augeri said there has been no communication with the band since he went on hiatus? I don't think that's a bridge he wants to cross anymore than Journey does.

Maybe Journey can have Robert Fleischman open for them. He could use a couple of amphitheater gigs these days.
Or better yet, have an all star tribute to Journey as the opening act, with Fleischman, Augeri, Chalfant, Hunsicker and Soto teaming up with the Cast of Glee.
