We've finally worked up most of the new set list for this coming weekend and Stephen and Chad and myself worked up a practice version online.

This is a clip of the demo without drums and bass. Check it out and come see our show this Saturday at Music Farm in Charleston SC!

EDIT: Fuck it, I can't get the link to work, but you can check it out on our Facebook page at

www.facebook.com/frontiers.journeytribute

Or I think this link might work:

www.journeytributeband.com/FIB.mp3

Thanks!

You might not want to hear this but you sound just like Perry on that clip. I know some other stuff you've done, where you added your own spin but this is dead on, right here.

Thanks Don, it's a little tough to separate myself from some of the later Perry stuff but live I do sound different than in the studio also, LOL...

For others, fixed and added another link.

Thanks!

I'm sure some Filipino, if not Arnel has covered it before. They love to try and emulate John Farnham down there.

I can't listen from work but I was hoping Jeremey did not do the bluuuuah Perry-ism....that always made this song unlistenable to me, just sickening...what an outrage if Arnel had come up with something like that, lol.

LOL...other than the above, my only complaint is your performing Oh Sherrie in a Journey tribute show. ;-) I finally had the chance to see you guys in Johnson City, TN, the group I was with hadn't heard you before and thought you were great and really enjoyed the show. Some of them went back to see you in Kingsport this summer but I was out of town, hope you get back this way again.

I LOVE the Perryisms/Cookeisms when one uses them properly, when they sound natural and unforced and when they make me swoooonah ... unlistenable?!? You must have a real problem w/current day Journey ...btw...Journey included OS in their setlist ...;)
Jeremey...hope to hear this live one day ...Bravissimo!!!

LOL! Steve is that you? this is cool, after hearing this, IMO it would of been in Journey's best interest to do the following... get Steve Perry back, or! hire Jeremey for the real lagacy sound, that is the closet you will ever get, you got real soul mr Hunsicker!, perry has it too.

I'd love to hear you do "It Could Of Been You".

Thanks man, we have fun in JCY, hope to get back down there again this season. We did perform Oh Sherrie as a crowd fave plus because JRNY performed it on the ROR tour, so we kind of had an out on that one....

Here's a funny story, when I was practicing with Journey, I wanted to rehearse that song but Neal couldn't remember it. So the next day he pulled up with TBF in his CD player and said he had worked it up and he forgot how cool of a song it was. But he despised Perry's ending...He said Perry "always had to get the last word," and he kept making fun of him, LOL....So when we played the song we went back to the middle 8 instead of the normal ending.

I do too for the most part, but I thought that particular one did sound unnatural and forced. Yes they did do OS on the ROR tour but I'm sure Perry held a gun to their head to do it and Strung Out. I have no problem with Arnel with Journey at all, though I think the remakes would have benefited from being recorded after his accent was less prominent. Perry took more liberties with the English language than any other American singer that comes to my mind so I don't find much of Arnel's enunciation to be any stranger than "ci-TAY" for instance.

Here's the way I see it ...not many artists can/could take lyrics that look so nothing and even corny sometimes and turn them into magical events just by the way they phrase, present, deliver. They don't try to sweeten things up with a bunch of words that don't connect...only a few that I can think of can make wooooah.ooooahhh and aaahh~ahhh~ahhh sound like they just ripped their heart out so you, too, can feel what they are talkin about... that cannot be copied, it cannot be faked, it must be felt by the artist and the listener or it ruins everything. But I'm a Motown girl, I want to feel my music... ;)

If you have a problem w/citay then you have a problem w/American RnR, we had this discussion in another thread...the verdict ... it is ci~tay, bitches!

I agree with this for the most part in regards to Perry, but I don't think it applies to "bluuuuah"....which I felt was more corny than any lyrics could be. And you're right in that he didn't add a lot of meaningless words but he may hold the record for getting the most syllables into a one syllable word., lol. Anyway, I certainly didn't mean to turn Jeremey's thread into a Perry or Arnel debate.

 I just love it when you post my exact thoughts for me. :D

There is very few that can deliver a song like that without it coming across as forced or phoney. Motown influenced vocalists seem to have a great knack for that more natural emotive delivery.

Love the song Forever In Blue, will have to listen to the link after work. Agree with Vlad too, absolutely love It Could Have Been You, would be interesting to hear Jeremey's take on that one.
