I got this message from a close friend who sings for Funk Band called Rising Star here in San Diego.

Saw Steve Perry of Journey @ the Wedding next to the one we were hired to do! He was singing at the reception! Now that's a Wedding Singer! Only in La Jolla! LOL!

For those of you who don't know, SP lives in Del Mar, which is the next town over on the coast from La Jolla. Both towns are beachy and posh. Lots of big houses and tall gates and private estates.

You guys will ask for pics but according to my friend...Big Bodyguards made it impossible.

Not acording to the golden throat himself.

This is a quote from the 2008 GQ Interview...unless of course Perry was lying?

" I live just above San Diego, in Del Mar. And occasionally when I get up to Los Angeles, sometimes I’ll go out on the weekend, and some of these clubs, man—this new generation in the clubs, man, they’re playing this song, and when it comes on they’re screaming it out to each other. The girls are screaming “Just a small-town girl.” They’re screaming it at clubs. Do you have any idea what that feels like? In my lifetime, to see another generation embrace this? As I said in the beginning with you, there’s something reverent about that, to me. And I only wish to protect it, because it means something to them, like it means something to me. I don’t wanna see that get damaged. I really don’t. And I just love to see them love it so much. It just completely slays me. I would have never—I would have never thought that was gonna happen. I mean, who knew? "

I believe you!

Thank u so very much. Like i said i will be out that way this year in hopes to check it out and get some ideals. Let me clear up, I dont' mind celebs. never met one. I am just down to earth person, very laid back. The only person i have heard of in Del Mar that i would call celebrity status is Steve Perry retired frontman for group Journey. Where would be the closest hospital to Del Mar? So any info is greatly appreicated.

The closest hospital to Del Mar is either Scripps Clinic or Scripps Memorial. They are both 5 to 7 minutes away from Del Mar Center with Clinic just South of Del Mar and Memorial just North.

My friend has no reason to lie about this. His funk band, Rising Star, is very well known throughout San Diego County and as it stands, the Steve is still easily recognizable, especially when singing. He didn't say that he sung well or bad, he just said that he saw the Steve in the hall next to his. :)
