It's a swipe. Neil is a dick! (yes I know I spelled his name wrong!)

I think it's a fair point. If Lou Gramm is out there singing the national anthem, what's Perry's excuse?

It's a swipe but what do you expect of Neal given the way Perry has treated him and the rest of the band?

Yeah, the way Perry shits all over Pineda is terrible. Didn't Steve have a chance to block video promotion of the Wal-Mart package? I guess he fucked the band over on that one big time also.

If OLD/NEW band members are still crying about 1998 they better change their tampons already, the ones they're using probably smell of bacterial vaginosis.

The band has supposedly moved on with Pineda. If Neal and Perry are still holding a grudge against each other, I would think some type of Psychiatric Counseling might be in order for both of them. Definitely not a healthy way to spend your later years.

Has the bar concerning this guy been lowered so much that we should all bow down and kiss the man's feet because he was gracious enough to allow a band he is no longer a member of to re-record some old stuff? I understand the songs are partly his, but when has this guy ever turned down a chance to collect a check without doing any work?

Well of course Neal is upset; he believes he has every right to be. Steve was his very dear friend and then life happened and it all fell apart. Now, he's just unsure what to make of this resurgence of his old friend; how does Steve get all this glory simply by going to the games? After all Neal plays all around the world for years and has not yet reached this level of popularity. It's hard to understand how Steve who has avoided stardom like a plague has suddenly become so likable and why people love him so much. Neal should not bother himself with all these worries about Steve. He needs to let all of those feelings go and wipe the slate clean. You really can't go through life trying to hold onto someone and something which happened years ago hoping that you can revive that magic spirit again. You can never turn back the hands of time; you just have to swim in the stream of tomorrow. Just my thoughts; I wish Neal well and hope he lets go of all the bitter fruit.

Roger Waters actually went to court to try and block David Gilmour from touring under the Pink Floyd name. After all that, they are still doing charity shows together.

The thing with Journey is the band didn't have to sign that agreement with Perry. They could have went to court and in probabiltiy would have won and it wouldn't have taken more than a year either.

In Pink Floyd's case, Water's wrote 90 % of their hits and was a founding member and he still couldn't block the band from touring and singing the songs he wrote.

If Cain and Schon agreed to what Perry wanted without a fight, then they have no one to blame but themselves.
No need for reunion but at least acknowledging each would be a nice start.

He was the lead singer and, like virtually every other band, was the most recognizable member. You're acting as though this phenomenon is specific to just Journey. It's not.

Aside from the horrible contract he had these guys sign when they divorced him (which defies logic as to how these guys could have given him such a huge severance agreement when precedent had already been set by the court with Styx and Floyd on how much power EVEN an original member has concerning his ex-band. Complete incompetence by the J-Boyz legal team it looks like), I don't see where Perry has done anything detrimental to the band over the last ten years. I'm sure some of that has to with his ability to continuously collect a paycheck but really, since he has left Journey what has Nostrildamus done to the band that would affect them adversely?

If anything, it's Perry's fans who have got a reason to bitch about his actions (or rather, inaction) over the last ten years more than anyone else.

All good points. I think the "horrible contract" they signed was probably because they were just so tired of the inactivity in Journey that they agreed to far more than what they should have, but it's somewhat understandable. In total, the guy took over a decade away from them in terms of touring and relevance. I can see the impatient desire to just be able to get back out there and be able to play again.

As for the last decade, Perry has been great about keeping the old songs in the public's eye. While I certainly question his motives (I think he does it to remind people that the "original" singer isn't there anymore, but wouldn't be doing it if the band was dormant.), you can't question the results. They've been phenomenal.

I do believe that Perry probably wasn't a great guy to work with and besides love of his family never saw his band mates as more than co-workers. I also think everything he did during his time in the 80s with the band centered around the idea that money makes the world go around. His quote during the Escape sessions, "Time Is Money" is probably a mantra he lives by to this day.

Typical Neal. Guy has always been a complete fucking douche! It's no surprise that so many chicks have dumped this whiny little bitch!

I saw their last shows together (Raised On Radio) and the writing was on the wall way back when and it hasn't changed one bit today. They, meaning Cain and all do not like Perry. They more than likely would like to say alot more but can't and won't make a ass of themselves. Journey and Perry wont sing together ever. Hell, Perry won't sing either.

Yes! If you can lower the bar for one who spends his life copying the hard-work of others surely you can for one who actually creates something... He has already done the work and is "living off his past glories" just like the band. The only difference is retirement calls for that, but forging ahead, supposedly, does not.

neal is making an ass of himself, Perry is and always was the smarter one.
Whatever condition his voice is in has no effect on the legacy he has left behind.
schlongs dig for Perry not singing is childish, Perrys not getting near a mic to sing.
Good for him, he has nothing to prove, his body of work stands for itself.

I don't know which one it was, but that was funny as hell.

Heheheheh...ah, yes. It's funny 'cause it's true.

Hey, it's not Neal's fault Perry's a part-time rally monkey, and the band (you know, the one he "divorced") is finishing a new album & about to embark on a world tour...

Hehehe, whooo, good one Neal! I think I almost hurt myself.

Q. Why doesn't Neal Schon go trick or treating?

A. He can't because between ex-wives and lead singers, he has no more doors to knock on.

Who knows, but it seems like he is more productive on the sauce. His sober solo efforts attract a crowd about the size to fill a small country chapel, or in some cases my 3 car garage. Maybe both Perry and Schon are nothing without the Journey header.

That's because the buck stops with Arnel's presence where Schon is concerned. If the pinheads supported his gigs half as much as they do Pineda's the guy would have toured all summer. Without Arnel, no one who is a new fan knows nor cares who the hell Neal Schon is.

Neal's FB page is private so perhaps he doesn't necessarily mean for these comments to be hitting forums like this one.

Perry needs to get out more often. If a couple jumbo tron appearances can stir things up this much, actually singing something will get this place and Neal's FB page absolutely blazing.

Wow...are these fb posts attributed to Neal for real...or just made up as a joke to get people riled up here.
I thought the first one shared by RnR had a tinge of sarcasm...but the posts here attributed to Neal clearly are digs.
Neal just being Neal ....?

They're real. Just Neal being Neal, maybe with a touch of thee ol' fire water helping him out?

Like I said, his facebook page is private and there's probably a reason for it. He hasn't posted any of these things on the official Journey site so beyond those on his friend's list I'm not sure if he meant for this stuff to get put out all over the net.

He did me too Chubby, or so I thought. It turns out that Neals facebook account was doing funny stuff. There's a 5000 max friends limit on there, and it wasn't him giving leave to people, but facebook, trying to manage more than 5000 friends. I have that info on good authority.
