1. What's your opinion on Arnel?
2. Have you listened to and/or own a copy of Revelation?

In all likelihood he was probably given a free Revelation package since he does have credits on the album and had to sign off on the video promotion. Considering Jeremey received a platinum award plaque , it wouldn't surprise me at all if Perry received one of those also.
I would venture to say, he has heard Arnel just as he has probably heard Augeri. I'm sure he is smart enough to never say anything about Arnel as someone will end up being offended no matter what he says and the question would then have to be asked why he never weighed in on Steve Augeri.

I doubt Perry has any inclination to say anything about this. He'd rather continue to sit smug and collect his paycheck, rather than open any cans of potential worms.

I'm sure his inner circle realizes that the guy is fragile between the ears, and asking
any questions that might upset him would probably get you exiled. Other than that, the guy only does scripted interviews and doesn't allow any tough questions to be asked. So, in short, I doubt he's ever been asked either question. The circle's scared and there's no other opportunity.

C'mon now! We can't even get a straight answer to "are you ever going to perform or release another album?"

Tried to get the interview, and would have asked the questions. Steve very respectfully declined.

Why do you think they are silly? I think these questions have crossed most Journey fan's minds at one point or the other. Wouldn't you be curious to hear what he has to say?

Not quite.
Mr High Road and Class himself called Augeri "a soundalike or whatever he is" when someone asked on the internet Q&A one time how he felt that Augeri did a dedication or thank you to him on Red13.

What? The circle hasn't weighed in already to defend his wonderfulness? Well it is a little early on the left coast...

I wonder if Andrew had any luck in trying once again for an interview? He said that he was going to try again this past week. Maybe he was just kidding around.

Perry's not going to comment on Arnel. But there's really no reason he couldn't. If he wanted to be in Journey, he would be, so why be uncool to the guy that's taken his place? Arnel's done nothing to Perry and has actually helped him to stay in the limelight a bit. SP isn't losing anything. It ain't Arnel's fault that Perry no longer wants (or can do possibly) the job and Arnel is out there (as was Augeri) beating the SP drum by singing SPs music. Perry should thank him for keeping the Journey flame alive.
What's good for Journey is also good for Perry.
Interview Perry? There's no story. Why interview him? Maybe if you want to talk about baseball, but music?
The guy's a non-entity musically these days and seems to like it that way. Maybe people should just move on and let him be an answer on a Trivial Pursuit card like he seems to want...

Great post, though I would have said Journey music rather than SP music.
I think maybe Perry would love to have the job... or maybe rather be out there on his own... but knows he can't.

I just don't see the need for Perry to validate any of the singers of Journey since his departure. What's is there to affirm, that the guy does a good job singing songs that he already has? There are probably quite a few people playing in tribute bands or on the Vegas strip that would qualify also. Why is he being uncool for not discussing anything about singer xxx. I understand that this past week, there was probably 95% mention of Perry and Journey surrounding the World Series and only 5% or less of Pineda and Journey talk but that's not the job of SP to create PR for this lineup of the band.
If Journey does some NEW music that gains them accolades from the entire music community that everyone would just had to have heard, even if just accidentally, I'm sure Perry would acknowledge that publically, if asked. Until that time comes, I see no reason to endorse the current band whose leader's last statement in response to Perry at the World Series is "Arnel is the New king and we are going to conquer the world." Really, what could Perry say about Pineda to top that kind of Hyperbole?

What I meant by uncool was in regards to the Augeri comment he made. I shoulda clarified. He doesn't need to comment on any of the singers. At the same time though, there's no reason why he can't is my point. For him to just say "Oh, I'm not going to answer that" is kind of silly. He can sure answer it one way or the other. If he wants to dog any singer in the band cuz he doesn't think they're up to the job, that's one thing. If he wants to dog them just because he's not in the band, that's another.

One problem is that every media appearance starts out pretty much proclaiming that the band has a guy who sounds just like their last singer. Comments like " If you close your eyes, you wouldn't know the difference", I mean that was part of management's PR package during the Augeri era, to promote the new guy as Perry with a perm. If the band is selling the singer as such, how else should Perry endorse the guy?
At least Perry said something. Since Arnel's employment with the band, Nomota seems to have stricken the Augeri tenure from the annals of the band's history. That has to hurt Augeri more than anything that Perry might have said.

What Augeri comment? I checked the Q&A's did not find it.
I have read other interviews where, when asked his opinion about the other singers, his usuual comment is that does not listen to Journey with other singers.

That's right. I think he called him "cut bait" or something like that. I think that's more of a slam on Neal and Jon than Augeri though.

That doesn't sound like a weighed opinion, just him parroting what Neal himself alluded to at the Hollywood WOF ceremony.

To be fair, these 2 moments

In the Oprah show, I don't recall SP specifically addressing Arnel, but didn't Steve give the whole band kudos for carrying on without him and wishing them continued success? FamilyMan came on here shortly afterwards and introduced himself as a producer of the show.
Boy, people have short memories here.

I so agree w/this!!

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, but what exactly do you mean by this?!? Are you referring
to his Filipino fan base who had never heard of Journey/Perry prior to AP?!? Because
that makes sense!! If Journey quit touring today or
Yesterday,
SP/his name would still be
in the limelight for
his own /Journey achievements ... The same
achievements AP is using to put himself in the limelight!! Something sounds backwards here ...
