I think Air Supply may be a better fit...they can open for them.

The Scorpions would BLOW them off the stage.

I think the subject of Scorpions and Journey teaming up was talked about before the last tour but Heart seemed to fit Journey better with their Pop/Rock type of catalog.

Did anyone see the Monsters of Rock tour in 1988? Van Halen headlined, Scorpions opened. They cleaned Van Halen's clock!

I think Triumph opening for Journey would be a great idea for the North American leg of the 2 year world tour. And if Journey is committed to playing to huge crowds down the line in Europe, they should open for the Scorpions. It would also allow them to play a lot heavier set.

Dream Theater opened for Iron Maiden at MSG this year as a sign of respect as they could have packed the place themselves. I just don't see Neal agreeing to that with the Scorpions. Now that the band has tasted success as a headliner again, they don't seem to be too keen to open for anyone (or even co-headline for that matter). Remember Schon talking about how they were going to be headlining at a bunch of Festivals this year? I doubt opening, even for a legendary band like the Scorpions is in the cards anymore.

You and others said that years ago. You could be right this time. I don't know. But I would be surprised completely over. Maybe touring every other year for a summer tour or something. This move to Nashville seems to really have Jon very involved in the music scene there and writing music for other acts, though. I'm leaning towards no touring every year after this next two years is finished. but just touring every other year a shorter tour for a few more years.

Going by what Chubby alluded to in one of her posts and the appearance of them not following the two on, one day off schedule (at least in their European shows), that was factored in last tour to save Arnel's voice, it could be these next two years are in fact the band's farewell tour sans Perry.

Arnel has his club and other things going, while John has his daughter's career and plenty of new artists to write for there in Nashville.. After being on the road the next two years, it could be they'll decide right then if it's worth it to continue or finish out while they're at least respectable again. If this album doesn't make gold, maybe they'll say hell with it and call it a day after 2012.

I think they should tour until they're dead and then just put cardboard cut outs of them on stage after their death, the cardboard would be more energetic.

I just think that, as of right now, there are no plans for this to be the last album. But, things do change. These guys have been blessed with pretty incredible health, considering some of their well known vices. That'll probably be the biggest factor. Pineda, Schon and Cain seem to be in excellent health, but Valory and Castronovo worry me.

I don't think the album's success will factor into it much. I expect it to be their last album. I would love a live album, though. For most older bands, that is not where the money is at. It's touring. So if there is still a big market out there, I still think we'll see them tour every so often for a while. Look at Moody Blues and other older bands and older singers like Boz Scaggs. They're still touring.

How do we think Perry figures in here? If the World Series really HAS inspired him, and he writes/records, it opens the can of worms again - as it did in '94. If Perry remerges just as the Journey/Arnel lineup has just about run it's course... ???
