Journey 2001 might be greater ...simply because it was used in so many future shows. Think about it. If this was the soundtrack to other Journey shows, then people loved it without knowing it.

Well, considering the first one, the vocals aren't even live, I'd select the second one, and I haven't even seen it.

Until a Blu-Ray of the Manila show comes out AND fixes a lot of the audio idiosyncracies, the 2001 Vegas Disc takes the crown, even if it is all doctored up.

This is tough. The Arrival DVD is better, but we all know why. The Manila DVD is deeper and has much less of a polished, but live, feel to it. I'll take the Manila DVD, based on its depth. But I really like them both.

Back when I was still a good fan. I loved the Arrival dvd...now that I know it isn't even live....fuck all. Watching Augeri slide across the stage in his gay red leather pants, chumming it up with Frig...knowing he isn't live makes me vomit. I could watch Pineda because he sings so well, although I think his stage presence is embarrassing. His voice bails him out IMO.

Though I like both, I give the edge to Live In Manila, in part due to the varied (and lengthy) set list.

2001 for sure,thats what got me back in to Journey,even if it wasnt all live,plus they used the sound tracks for the lipping fiasco for for future dates, must have been good enough for that, id rather see the wiggle then the running and jumpin around from Arnel

Agree here on all points Arrival was good but I cant watch it anymore..enough said on that..I always though Augeri's stage work was weak and forced. While Arnel goes way over the top..lay off the redbull !!! Like Arnel vocals though

I still watch the Arrival DVD, knowing what I know. I just don't let it bother me. I like the vibe of the DVD, and everything except Augeri's near death experience with the piano dive, makes it a good show. I just refuse to worry about it being doctored and I'm able to enjoy it. And like Steve said, that's the DVD that got me back into Journey, after a long sabbatical.

Neither captures the band at their best. I like the extended solos on Manilla, but Arnel is pretty annoying. I gotta give it to 2001, fakery and all.

Funny, but why wasn't Houston included in this poll? It would have, or should have been, a unanimous decision. That was a great dvd.

Either way, it wouldn't be as good as a Frontiers gig if the band would ever put out a show from that tour, because you would have the added songs that Frontiers produced....same thing with ROR...They are really missing an era where they could make some money...if they would just ask SP to produce an Frontiers or ROR show, it would sell.

Yeah, it's also the one where Steve sang the same verse twice in Stone In Love and flubbed the lyrics on Keep On Running.
The spot on performance of DSB is great though along with the WITS. At the end of AWYWI, it looks like Perry is totally gassed but I still love the show.

Frontiers tour 1983 would be awesome on DVD....


I love the arrival 2001 DVD.....the manila show is okay...and Arnel gets annoying after a couple of hours...of running around... Neals playing is killer on arrival DVD...

2001. Primarily for La Raza Del Sol, and the audio mix is easily 10x better. Really feels like a rock show. Manila sucks because the audio is horrible. Ask The Lonely especially, while it rocks on the 2001 DVD
