Journey has the better song catalog, but Foreigner and Styx will blow them away live. Pineda is still raw and is not a polished lead singer. Styx and Foreigner
will get the better reviews.

Blow them away live

I think not.

You're on crack. Pineda is not a newbie.

If I'm going to a show with my buddies to drink, rock, and have a great time, Foreigner and Styx will 100% guaranteed blow Journey away due to Journey's truncated setlist and the clunkers they have to play because of it. Foreigner and Styx just rock more during these shortened sets and their stage presence crushes Journey's, even if Perry were there.
If I'm going to a show with my girlfriend, we'll enjoy Journey more.
Given the choice of 3 hour shows from each with good setlists, I'd probably enjoy Journey the most unless Arnel had a bad night.

I saw Styx last week in Erie. They're really, really, really good as of late, and they've always been good. They're going to upstage Journey and Foreigner. No doubt about it. It'll be really anti-climactic since it seems that Styx will be playing first. I saw United in Rock this summer and Styx blew Foreigner away. I'm so glad that they played last or Foreigner would have seemed even more dull. Styx was better than REO and Journey in 2003 on the Main Event tour.

Checking the UK rock sites, the fans are really excited for Foreigner and Journey, not so much Styx. Foreigner seems to be getting the most love but they have toured the hell out of that place with Kelly so I'm not surprised.

I saw Kansas, Styx and Foreigner in Omaha this past 4th of July and Foreigner absolutely
destroyed the place. They had at least 90% of the
80,000 people on their feet going nuts. Kansas got about 1/10th of them on their feet and Styx about 1/3rd. Foreigner was,
by far, the best band that night.

As big as DSB is, when Mick goes into that Whole Lotta Love segway during JukeBox Hero, the fans both here and in the UK go fucking nuts.

Not to be harsh, and you are entitled to your opinion, but Foreigner will most likely play "I"ve Been Waiting for A Girl Like You", "I Wanna Know What Love Is", "Urgent', "That Was Yesterday", "Girl on The Moon", "Say You Will". They have some nice rockers as does Journey, but when you include the above in there set, I still don't see how they blow Journey away.
I saw Foreigner open for Journey back in 99 (i believe it was), and it was not even close. Journey by a mile. And for the record, I do like Foreigner.

That still doesn't change the fact that Pineda looks like a drugged up Duracell bunny on stage. He got no presence what so ever. Good voice, but that's about it.

I really doubt you'll be getting all of those in a 3-band set, especially "That was Yesterday" "Say You Will" and "Girl On The Moon." Probably "I've Been Waiting" and of course "I wanna know what love is." But, there's just something different about going from "I've Been Waiting For a Girl Like You" to a song like "Hot blooded" or "Juke Box Hero." They just rock harder. Don't get me wrong, I like Journey music better, but in a live setting, even the Foreigner ballads have a lot more balls than the Joureny ones - they're moodier; Journey's are sugary.

This is a different band with Kelly Hansen as lead singer than with a less than 100% Lou Gramm in '99. I saw Styx 2 weeks ago and they sound great. In fact, every time I have seen them over the years, their live show is tight. I love Journey, but Pineda is all over the stage like a Hyperactive child. It becomes distracting.

I guess I am in the minority, but I don't follow every thing the singer is doing during a concert. As long as he is sounding good that is what matters to me. With that said, I truelly hope Arnel is over the wacky "eyes rolling into the back of the head" thing he had going on in that pre-superbowl appearance a year back. Now, I agree, that was just freakin weird.

When he fumbled the mic after after one of his tosses at the Greek Theater a few years ago, it was a tiny bit distracting.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one. In my opinion, Foreigner does not rock harder. I dig "Hot Blooded" and "Juke Box Hero", but to me those tunes don't rock any harder than say "Stone In Love", "Escape", or "Wheel In The Sky" using only "dirty dozen" tunes. And as far as the ballads, NO WAY are ballads like "I've been Waiting" or " I Wanna Know" any moodier or come across any harder live than say "Mother Father" "Still They Ride" or even "Faithfully" or "Lights". I don't even know if I can even make that concession with "Open Arms".
But that is what this place is for.......expressing/discussing differing opinions.

With the original version you would have to concede, but with the beefed up version you don't. They gave that sappy song some balls.

Last time I checked Perry didn't own the Journey name.
If you wanna go there we can say Journey became a cover band when Rolie or Fleschman left.

Journey and Foreigner will come in with monstrous reviews and Styx will get a token pat on the back. That's my prediction.

Anyone know if this tour will be exclusive to the UK? Any chance we'll see it in the US?

these bands wont regret the thousands or millions that might be made on the tour...just saying... and reminder, its only the first 5 shows that have been advertised so far... Journey will do at least 2 years of touring from what we have been told... kind of speculation at this point, besides being pointless for that matter about *regrets*...

Azoff knows what he is doing. This package is going to make him money. His decisions trump what the bands want, and he's usually right.
That's why he is the king.

Sorry to repeat myself, but Journey had better bring their "A" game every night. If they do, they can hang, if not, aka Styx, Reo, Journey tour, they'll appear bored and boring.
Saw Foreigner a couple of months ago and their set rocked. If I recall they played I Want to Know what Love is and maybe one other ballad, but it did not slow the pace down at all. Crowd was rocking from the start and were on their feet after the encore wanting more. Kelly Hansen is by far, without a doubt, the best replacement singer, all things considered, of any I have heard. The real deal.
I've never left a Styx show disappointed. I've left wishing DDY was still there, but not disappointed as they are always high energy and entertaining.
I'm looking forward to it.

I saw Kansas, Styx and Foreigner in Omaha on the 4th of July weekend and Foreigner
killed. They had 80,000 people
rocking.
