I find Neal's quote rather immature, especially after all this time. I know some will hate Neal or Hate Steve, but from one person that doesn't dislike either, this was just a childish comment.

First, why would Neal think Steve is enjoying this fun time with his favorite team too much? Standing in the stadium singing along to a song he helped make famous? Riding in a parade at the invite of the team? Being interviewed a few times at reporters' request? And three quarters of that was about baseball.

Second, if I remember (and I do), Steve did not walk out. He was asked to leave when the band wanted to move at a different pace. Putting right or wrong aside, I think everyone agrees that Perry wanted to remain, just under different terms. Saying he walked away is either just bitter or an over-simplified version of what went down.

A man - a man who has moved on - would say something like, "It's been great watching our song effect so many people and have such a positive effect on Steve. Looks like he is enjoying the ride. Good for him. Now come see our show and have some more fun."

You are assuming that Neal cares what anyone thinks.....I don't think he does.

I do think that the comments that he has made in the past few days proves that he is still pissed off that the band in it's current state cannot garner the attention that Perry does....and yes it's a baseball game...but just that has proven to stir the pot....and Neal does not seem to be happy at all.

Not that Neal cares what some of the fans who have been around since the start of this band thinks, it might have been a better move to embrace the attention that Perry is getting and use it to his advantage....but Neal has never been one to take the high road.

As I said....I really considered going to a show this time around...now I have a issue with what is being said...maybe it's my loss...somehow I don't think so.

Then again...it's only a band....this fan is about to the who fucking cares point anyway.

I've never thought for one second that that had anything to do with "screw Steve Perry". I've always considered that off-the-cuff comment to be more about "I'm tired of thinking about it, who cares". How many times have each of us grown weary of whatever, and said "ah, F-it"? ...as if to say, I'm busy about other things, and I don't want to commit any more time to it right now.

Huh? We've all done that...with work, with family, with fixing things around the house, with...whatever. We get tired of whatever, and we say, "F that". No?

I really doubt that NS would ever whole-heartedly say to any of the classic Journey lineup that created all the great music that still issues each of them a paycheck today...F-you, or F-anybody...and sincerely mean it in some effort to blow them off.

That's just stupid...for any of us to think that it was sincerely pointed as something offensive.

I respectfully disagree, Neal's actions of late seem to insinuate that he did point the comment directly at Perry.

JMO....if it was not meant that way...he would not be posting his little swipes on Facebook.

Exactly! Neil had his ego stroked in the wrong direction when Leppard told him "Niel's band" was OPENING for Leppard throughout the tour CASE CLOSED. Don't like it? Go find a check somewhere else.

Don't think for a minute kneel doesn't blame Perry for that ever being possible!!!

Any pace was a different pace then standing still! Herbie nailed it. The guy lied. Period. Neal told Herbie he would never tour and he didn't. That's true too...Bryan Adams aint exactly a slacker and was on the ticket in what, '83?

And anyway, Journey opened for the Stones for a second in '80/81ish and got booed off the stage. Comparing then to now isn't apples to apples. They do quite well for themselves currently, better than at any point since they returned.

Some trooper fans too. It was 108° degrees that day in 2008 at the amphitheater in Dallas. Nice area too, huh? Everybody showed up though.

Saw both shows you mentioned at JFK, the latter with Adams, Couger, Hagar, and the Tubes.

For the record, Foreigner got some abuse also at the Stones show. The guy who brought the house down was George Thorogood but he's a local boy anyway so no surprise there.

I'ts funny that Neal is so pissed off at the attention Perry gets. Journey's management has to bust ass to get them on shows or other media exposure. Perry turns down offers left and right that would put him squarely in the spotlight....except for agreeing tol lead a singalong at a baseball game and ride in a parade. THAT's what pisses Neal off. He has to scrounge for it and Perry has it handed to him without even asking. Too funny! The more Neal protests, the smaller he looks.

I mean, I think JSS was amazing in Journey, but that doesn't make Arnel suck. I love Revelation, but that doesn't mean Arrival sucked. Too many people on here create a couple of buckets and that's it for everything. They have decided to hate Schon for whatever reason, even if its valid, so that means to them that Journey doesn't draw well anymore. HUH!? Its pretty G'dam annoying. I think Perry is a depressed headcase who would have driven me nuts if I were in Schon's shoes - but that doesn't mean he isn't my favorite vocalist of all time. The fact I like Arnel, am excited about a new album and KNOW Journey was in the top 20 tours of 2008 doesn't mean I wouldn't cream my jeans if he reunited with Journey. Journey with Perry is a top 5 tour.....but that doesn't make Journey without Perry not a top 20 tour. Just because they only played a couple of new songs when you saw them in 2001, doesn't mean they didn't play 6 new songs in 2008. The ignorance on here is astounding. And some of it is from people who supported the band through some pretty medicore tours hardcore but spit out lies about the Revelation tour. Listen, I love the Augeri era, but they never had a tour that came close to Revelation. I remember the nauseating tour reviews saying how half empty amphitheaters were packed..well, those same venues WERE packed in 2008. And the 2002 Under the Radar tour that so many on here love was BRUTAL. Small barns, same setlist night after night......just not even in the same league as Revelation. Hard to believe a Journey fan could like Under the Radar but not Revelation. Seems to me politics have blinded many.

The whole bottom line for me is this: Journey is still making NEW music. In 1995 many of us sat around in chat rooms and dreamed of this. They have something in the range of 63 new songs the last 15 years..with another 10-15 coming in 2011. THATS what I wanted..and I got it. Lots of great tunes too. They tour hard and put on greats shows (with the exception of the last third/quarter of Augeri's tenure).

What a great, common sense post. I agree with all of this. Except, I think Arnel is much better than JSS in Journey.

Guess for a guy to come into a band 5 years after existence with supposedly that much power, he's not a part of the band. Where were the "cheerleaders" Schon and Cain when all this was happening by Perry, "the grounding force" Don't see anything immature about that. Dishonest like Tapegate?

Did they stand still from 78-87 and 95/96? Any hits or true platinum before or after, when they were supposedly rolling, rolling.... Seems Herbie was nailed too by his "like a son" Neal. Do you mean lied like the Tapegate lies and deceit to the fans and their going on Oprah pretending that Steve A never existed? Who is the singer on all the "GH" that keep the band going? What do you call Neal's outburst that spread like a wild fire throughout the internet, hopefully not to Perry's detriment, just b/c he sang a song he CO-WROTE?
