Hollywood Walk Of Fame Induction Photos

Came across these photos from the Hollywood Walk Of Fame ceremony in 2005. I actually went to the concert later that night at the House of Blues and I remember the rumor swelling that Steve Perry was going to come up on stage and jam, but that didn't end up happening, of course. Aynsley Dunbar, Robert Fleischman, and Steve Smith ended up coming to play though.

Any how...anyone else make it to this gig?

Dude, you're about four years too late on this.

Anyway, a couple points. It sickens me that Augeri is smiling ear to ear, knowing that later that night, He'll most likely end up lipping again...he has no business receiving an award....and Neal, wow, way to dress for the occasion.

Actually, judging by some of the other years-old topics that seem to be discussed around here, it looks to be right on time, or even a bit early.

I was at the HOB concert. I heard someone say Paul Stanly was sitting at a table in the balcony area, but never saw him.

Highlight was Steve Smith jamming on two songs. There was a big difference in the sound of the band when he worked the kit. Thunderous. And it wasn't lost on Neal. The look on his face was like "wow". When Dean too the reigns again, his licks sounded weak and simplistic by comparison. Augeri, to correct Dean, sounded on point that night, especially when he stepped in to help Robert Fleishman on WITS (and I was never a fan of Augeri in Journey -- love his work outside of Journey though). Dean should have sung the two songs Smith sat in on instead of Augeri, but Dean himself was too awestruck watching Smith go to work on Dean's own kit. He literally fell over backwards with giddiness at one point of Smith's set. Awesome night. Wished someone had recorded it.

This is a great story, and so cool to hear that Deen, too, was awestruck!!
I like Deen, but there is a large difference. I love Steve Smith, and miss him almost as much as Perry!!

What I find funniest ist that Neal and Perry are next to each other in most pictures and each has a hand on the others shoulder in different pics - reminds me of doing a pic with an old girlfriend after several years and there is still some "spark" there - really thought this might spark Perry to at least sing that night....

Maybe, but I know Schon and Perry had some greatness between them at one time. It would be difficult not to be at least a little glad to see each other after all they've been through.

Welcome, Jeff.

Hey, Jeff ...I was born at Bay City General/Regional ...me and Madonna!! ha ha!!
Oh, and I agree w/Rick, I think Perry/Schon love and respect one another STILL ...even though one
of them is an ass!!

Let me go ahead and clarify now, before the Perry basher's climb down from their
towers for a tour of the kingdom. I refer to Neal as an ass for current/recent behavior.
And because he just is ...a kick~ass geetar playin' ass ...he can't help it!!

That is where I was born MI girl - are you just saying that to throw in the Madonna reference or are you serious? If so where did you go to school?

Thanks Rick, I've been coming here a LONG time but hardly ever post - I find the back and forth here comical - they will rip a band member for not letting the past go but what is everyone who argures for a "side" doing!? LOL.

The project I'm looking forward to the most from Neal is his new solo effort with Smitty. They have amazing chemistry. If anyone has any updates about that solo project please post.

Can't tell if you're referring to the HOB concert or not. I honestly don't recall any Generations songs played that evening. It was all Perry era hits. Augeri didn't sound amazing but he didn't have vocal problems that evening and it was clear, with all the guest players involved, that the evening was largely improvisational. So I doubt pre-recorded vocals were used. If he was having vocal problems he would have lost it on the high notes when he stepped in to help Fleishman (who was struggling big time). Deen sounded amazing on Suzanne. It was my first exposure to his singing lead on any song and I remember wondering why he wasn't singing lead in the band.

News Flash, Flannel went out with Grunge ten years prior, Nelly.
Dude looks like a lost piece from a 'Lego Cabin Builder' set.

And someone get the man a seamstress, he seems to be missing a few buttons.

Those photos take me back. You should have heard the crowd when Perry showed up. And yes, Paul Stanley was in the balcony. He waved to the crowd below when he realized many knew he was there.
