Want another one that will curl your toes? Get Kansas' There's Know Place Like Home DVD. Kerry Livgren and Steve Morse are on it. And Walsh sounds really good. I didn't know what to expect, but I'm just blown away. A full orchestra was incorporated for their 35th anniversary, filmed in Topeka, where the band started. That's just plain magic.

Well, if it's true that they had to use studio magic for most of these songs after the fact, he wasn't a front man at his best vocally live. But I still love the DVD.

You are either, A) Retarded or B) stupid or C) Ignorant.

That entire DVD is anything but live. Augeri sucked dude. Fuck, I could go up there and mime a goddamned concert and have everyone think I was the best frontman too...it's easy when you don't have to actually fucking you know, sing?

I am never forgiving Augeri. That guy pissed on rock n roll and he pissed on my ex favorite band. All those fuckers should be exposed as the frauds they are.

All recordings are taken to a studio and touched up. What the Escape album is without enhancements?? Augeri was good to you and yet you still slander the man. He knows he fucked up. I am sure he regrets every part of that situation. The fact is that man is a class act who treated the fans ten times better than most of the Journey guys over the years. Even if you take out the vocal equation of that video, he rocked that arena and had the crowd up on its feet.

Augeri never treated me good. What did he ever give me? He gave me a fake concert and a disgusting mimickry of rock and roll. And you want to talk ablout slander? How is it slander if what I suggested(taped vocals) to be absolutely true? So OJ lopped off two heads. Are we slandering the man by continuing to say he is a murderer? No, we are stating the truth. In my honest opinion, Augeri shouldn't get a second chance at this profession, and neither should Journey. From a suposedly good musical group, and I agree they are, what they did was reprehensible. Now a bunch of Schon defenders like 78 and Dan and Steveo will come in and say, "well no one cares about that so it is irrelevent." No, it is relevent and always will be. I guarantee you Schon and Cain think about this in the back of their minds...and someday, it just may come out in an interview or something like that, where they won't be able to lie and shrug it off.

What I find hypocritical is that everyone on here despises baseball players like Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa and Mark McGuire doing roids and playing baseball at a distinct advantage, and they are chastised merciless for it. However, Journey did the same thing, and yet, fans of the band on this very board look the other way and forget about it.

Also, not all recordings are COMPLETELY redone dude. That entire DVD, save for a song or maybe two, was completely redone. What you hear when you listen to that DVD is nothing like it was on the night of December 30th, 2000. I was there. Augeri was struggling big time that night, and no, not everyone was on their feet for the entire show. In fact, most sat on their hands save for DSB and a few others. People even left early, and that was tough for me to watch as I was a big fan back then.

One more thing. Please explain to me how Augeri is a class act? He is no better than the scumbags who concocted the tape idea(Azoff), and the ones who carried it out(Schon, Cain, Castronovo, Valory, Elson and a few sound techs). I don't get this whole "Augeri is pure class"shit.

True or not true....still a good dvd.
I have said it before, Most dvds today are so dressed up, and redone, this is nothing different. Same for "live" cds. That is why I like bootlegs.

I'm a little puzzled by this --
the night of December 30th, 2006

I'm not going to delve into this (post/topic) because you've already spoken with me (briefly) about it, but as a side-note, when did you start getting close with the band (hanging out with members, knockin' back drinks, etc.)? Merely curiosity.

I have not heard of this show being lipped, Rockindeano can you point me to some sites or links in here that suggest/show us the songs in the concert that suggest it was lipped. Or if it is visible on the DVD please let me know where to look, as I have not looked at it that closely.

Rich,

The DVD was NOT lipped, that's the point of this thread/argument. He sounded atrocious that night. The fact is, Elson or Shirley, whoever the Hell it is, maybe both, had to redo the entire damned lead vocal on this disc.

Abitaman is trying to diffuse this flare up as "everyone touches up live discs." Maybe so, but not everyone redoes the entire lead vocal!

Plus, most of the fans are going by the almost ten years he was with the band. He toured his a... off and gave this band and the fans his all for a lot of years touring. We're not going to ignore all of that because of the fiasco at the end of his tenure with them.

To a certain extent. I know you are close to him now, so I will temper my furious fucking anger I now have(reliving this bullshit), but dude, this is a profession in which not all members of society can do. Augeri was propelled into this position and he did ok for a few years. The fact is, any true real rock n roller would NEVER EVER consider spitting in the face of music! To me, when this shit happened, Journey, the entire fucking organization, because it started with Azoff, and was carried out by Schon, Cain, Augeri and crew, was nothing but complete disrespect for anyone who has made an honest living playing and singing in rock n roll. They disrespected the Beatles, the Stones, the Doors, The Who, Elvis Presley, Fleetwood Mac, Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, everyone for that matter! What they resorted to was a fraudulent act, knowingly and willingly going out on stage night after night, falsley deceiving their audience-out of their hard earned money, and they could care less. They should have been sued to the hilt, a class action suit should and still be brought against them for this. Man, I am fucking furious right now, and disgusted as well; especially when some on here, you included Andrew, make excuses for Steve Augeri. Had Mr. Augeri's balls dropped, and he manned up and said "no" to this Milly Vanilli act, I would stand tall behind him, but I just can't now. As bad as people as Azoff, Baruck, Schon, Cain, Valory, Castronovo, Elson and Shirley are, Augeri cannot be held in a brighter light. Sorry, those are the facts, and I just can't understand why people continue to love this band, especially after how badly they treat their followers.

Oh no, you confused me PM...I knew I was right about that date. The reason I typed it out was I was there and could have sworn it was December 30th, 2000.

The last day of Augeri's Journey was some time in 2006 in Virginia or North Carolina I believe...I want to say July something, I don't remeber.

Augeri's final show was, ironically, Independence Day - July 4, 2006 in Raleigh. JSS came in on July 7 in Bristow, VA.

The Arrival DVD was filmed on December 30, 2000, and REO Speedwagon played the show with them (I'm nearly certain that REO was there as well...).

Yep, REO opened. I corrected my dates above. I remember making the 9.5 hour drive from LA(usually is only 5), and I was pissed that they sounded so bad. The hard part was waiting an hour+ for them between REO and Journey to set up the Direct TV cameras and so forth. Took forever. many people didn't stick around.

you are right .I saw them at hershey park on july 3rd, 6 th row . i heard the sound check and they did the 2001 version of escape note for note. I didn't know Augeri wasn't singing until I was in line to get in the show. I saw a friend from work and he told me. I was sick about that because I hadn't seen Augeri yet, and never got to. I was in a shit mood that whole concert. I wasn't digging Soto at all. He was rough during his first couple of months, but man did he ever step it up. I wish Journey would have stuck with him. I'm not saying I don't like AP, but I would have loved for them to make a record with Jeff.

I didnt like it either,i got really hammered and left during that dreadfull bass solo fron dep Lippard, thats was a fucked up year for Journey

EVERYONE deserves a second chance....

I agree w/Andrew ...you are
only hurting yourself w/your fury! He made a/some bad decisions, no excuses, and now he's starting all over ...have some compassion!! hance? I am sor
You seem to be softening towards the rest of the sinners/band!!

Oh Hell no I am not softening towards the remaining douches in the band! I hate their collective guts. Their bad people, all of them. The organization is just a horrible concoction of disgust and evil, and it all starts with that shitfuck Azoff and then it all smears off to the rest of the demonic cast. Look, you want me to give Augeri a second chance? I am sorry, but there are somethings that are just unforgiveable. This was an act, a premeditated act, contrived and executed to scam the fans. The right decision was to cancel the tour. I have made my case a thousand times. I could care less if 99% of this board disagrees with me or not. I have strong convictions about this, and I don't mind showing them here. I just can't believe that it is so forgiveable to the fans? And you know what, one person, and one person alone could have stopped this train before it ever left the station, and that would have been Mr. Augeri. He could have and should have said "no." I would love to ask the man that very question today....I would ask him if he had the chance to do it all over again, would he have backed out on the scheme? I don't know his answer, but I did pose the question to another singer of the same band and he flat out told me, that he "would never fuckin' lip."
