Is Journey your favorite band?

Postby Don » Fri Dec 10, 2010 7:59 am

I'm not asking for a debate beween the past and present. That's too much info, just a simple yes or no will do.
They are in my top 10 but Pink Floyd is probably my #1 favorite.

If someone else holds that spot for you, please let us know who it is.

as MG said...the Perry era... for me the era of 78-80 was the best... ;-) but not the imitation that is today...

Its amazing how its changed for me over the last 4-6 years...feel terrible too... ;(

I think Leppard, yes Frankie Valli and the four Seasons, moody blues and maroon 5 rank up there with me now...

Pretty much anyone. Hell, I think even the current testosteroneless REO ranks higher than Neil's band.

That's exactly my take on it. Today, though, I would say that Nickelback is my favorite.

I've always enjoyed the raw talent of each Journey member, and at a certain point in time I would say they might have been the most talented group of musicians at that time, and they were a favorite of mine for a short while. I can't say they held that position long though, as being a 30+ year old band, and losing a very key member 12-13 years ago, means there is very little to look forward to. So, while I can appreciate their older catalog and marvel at the voice of Perry or the Solo's of Neal, they moved down on my list of favorites.

My preference being Classical/Orchestral music and being a younger guy, I tend to lean more towards Symphonic Metal to get my fix, so my favorites in this order would be:

1. Nightwish
2. Within Temptation
3. Apocalyptica
4. Delain
5. Lacuna Coil

Then

- Soundscape/celtic music
- Classical/Soundtrack music

10. THEN (Current) Journey

If I had to rank my favorite classic/AOR bands, they would be:

1. Led Zeppelin
2. Pink Floyd
3. Journey (Classic)
4. Queen
5. Van Halen

Edit: Changed Heart to Queen.....can't believe I forgot them.

Totally agree, Michie! They are still #1 on my "reunion" wishlist, but I'm sure as hell enjoying the heck out of #2's reunion! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Awmr6NHVXE

I dig Skid Row. Bach could hit some sick notes in the studio, too bad he couldn't keep the quality as much live.

Journey is definitely my favourite band. Perry or Pineda, it doesn't matter to me, they're both great.

My other favourite groups are KISS, Foreigner, Meat Loaf, Van Halen, The Police, Hall & Oates, and Rush.

Nothing embarassing about that at all. I played my Live Bullet album to death back in the day, absolutely loved the live version of Beautiful Loser on that one. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzGhc9XRv9Q

#1 Journey/Survivor tie
#3 Foreigner
#4 Night Ranger
#5 Loverboy

If Bad English & The Storm had more than just 2 albums each, then they would probably be tied for third on my list after only Journey & Survivor, but since they don't, I didn't rank them.

Some other favorites in no particular order include....

The Cars
Styx
Damn Yankees
Mr. Big
38 Special
Giant
Bad Company
Toto

And tons of other bands.
