Price is $45.99 but it's temporarily out of stock. :(

One Review:

OK, fellow Journey fans! YES...This does exist!! Mine showed up today...This is an ALL Region Blu-ray with 3 different Audio options and the full concert on 1 Blu-ray disc opposed to the 2-disc DVD set. Awesome picture and audio as you would expect from a blu-ray! Must have!!

I'm curious why they would put it up on Amazon, then not have any copies of it? I also find it a little funny that they haven't advertised at all for it. Something tells me this is bullshit. I'll buy it if it ever comes out on Blu Ray, but something stinks about this... :?

It is strange saying it's out, but look at the reviewer's history. He is a legitimate poster on Amazon who has reviewed other DVDs he purchased.

Could be he was sold the DVD for twice the price and doesn't know the difference? Lots of people can't tell the difference between a Blu Ray and a DVD

He said it was on one blue-ray disk as opposed to the two-disk DVD set. Like I said, if you look at his reviewing history, he has Joe Bonamassa's new blu-ray and compares it to the DVD. So does know the difference. I don't know. It is strange there is none in stock.

This has to be bullshit. You figure this close to an album release (about 4 months), they would just wait and stock it alongside the new album.

This is all I was able to find. Tech fuckheads like Ehwmatt and GI Gym will probably understand this babble:

Journey: Live in Manila Post Production with the RED ONE
By Rob LaLonde

Jan

24

In August, I was called by an old friend Champe Barton of Horizon Productions who needed some online and color correction work on the Journey: Live in Manila concert that he was hired to DP. Produced by Dan Barnett of Wizard Entertainment, this was a 10 camera RED ONE shoot in Manila, Philippines. If you are not familiar with the RED, it’s a video camera that shoots RAW images at 4K (4096×2304 pixels) allowing a multitude of adjustments in post. A lot of credit should be given to the production team for their achievement in this, because most of the video and lighting equipment had to be flown in from various places such as the US and Japan.

The project was edited using Proxy files, which are lower resolution files and then reconnected to the RAW files after final edit approval. There are many different RED workflows to choose from and being modified daily, as it’s still cutting edge. RED has created a line of its own applications to process the RAW image data into the other various video codecs. Third party applications are also available which are Clipfinder, Monkey Extract and Crimson. Final Cut Pro/Color and Adobe Premiere can also import the RED files, but do not take advantage of the “Color Science” algorithm at this point, so these workflows weren’t an option. Some other higher end film finishing programs are available as well. RED has also developed the RED ROCKET card to use with it’s programs, which is an excelerator card that allows you to convert the RED media in real time. The 2.5hr camera reels that would take just over 3 days to render previously using the applications and standard 8-core MacPro, take just 2.5hrs using REDCINE-X with the Red Rocket, so this is the workflow we chose. The DVD is available now HERE, with a Blu-ray and High Definition Broadcast possible this year.

It may have been shot at 4096 x 2304 resolution, but the max out put on any current bluray player /disc and TV right now is 1920x1080 .
As discussed before, this video was shot with the future TVs and players in mind. But at this time even if they did release a bluray version of it, the max resolution would be the standard of any blu ray disc ( 1920x1080 ) .

As far as reviews goes, just cause someone reviewed other DVDs , doesnt prove that this bluray exists. I could go in there right now and leave a nice review and even mention Saint John's new igloo there too!

There is no BluRay release of the Manila show. This is likely something homemade and burnt to BR DVD.

This a Blu-ray boot, dolled up to look official, just like the '81 Tokyo Escape show that someone put up on Amazon last year. You can create the same thing at home, including adding extra audio options. Don't waste your money.

Chubby, you should change your thread heading to say FAKE BLU-RAY OF MANILA SHOW before some plokker actually pays for this garbage.

It's probably Steve Perry, working out of his basement with his brand new Pioneer burner he just bought at Frys for $199 .

lol... since when do I qualify as a "tech fuckhead?" I'm flattered, but unfortunately, that's not the case with me... not any more. When I was a young kid I knew all about that shit... but alas, the last few generations (last 6-7 years or so) of technology have passed me by. I have a very utilitarian understanding of most of what's out there. I know more than the average joe, but I'm certainly no expert anymore :(

I agree. In Manila, we found tons of bootleg DVDs, and most of them were labeled with the Blu-Ray logo and blue-colored strip at the top (even though they weren't). I brought home a few titles for $0.80 a piece that were still showing in theaters here, and they were perfectly watchable! Some seem to be direct bootlegs from original material, but a few of the newest were called "clear copies" -- basically, someone capturing a film in a theater from a handheld camera. They also had entire TV seasons for about the same price.

CONFIRMED - LEGIT RELEASE.

Only out in Asia it seems. More info coming on other territories. Image Entertainment will distribute.

Was planned for WalMart, but at the time tey didn't yet stock Blue-Ray and wanted a $10 price point item (hence the regular DVD).

So, does this one have a muted audience like the DVD version? I hate that shit.

AC-DC'S No Bull Blu-ray came out at Wal-Mart for 20 dollars the same time the Manila DVD came out.

I think this disc on Amazon is bogus. If you want to spend 45 dollars on it Chubbs, knock yourself out.

It's listed as being released by Evolution Records. A little Different than Image Entertainment. An all region Disc too, just like the pirate Blu-rays from Hong Kong. What kind of distributor releases a Blu-Ray without territorial lockouts?

Image is the US company.

Management confirms this is the legit release.

That price seems astronimical, I just can't see how they can sell this at that high a pricepoint after the ten dollar DVD.

No region protection defeats the purpose of having different distributors in each territory.

Not arguing against you Andrew , just the logic of releasing it like this. Doesn't sound professional at all.

The Amazon price reflects it being imported from Asia where it is now available (released October). US domestic (cheaper) release - TBA.

So a US release is imminent? Okay, I can go with that. So this a Grey import, like those 38 dollar Revelation CDs Target was selling..

Chubbs, I would wait for the official US release then.
