i've always thought this was a very overlooked but good tune that never got its proper due.would be a great way to end the live show or maybe do as an encore.

I have always wondered why they do not end their shows with this song.

Seeing that the Journey brand is tainted....they should open, and end with that song....

I've wondered the same thing from time to time -- I've only seen them play it once live, I want to say during the Summer De-Tour.

I thought this thread was about the state of Niel's band. Guess I won't comment then.

Agreed! Great high energy version from Day On The Green. Love that intro. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qxq_ROknB80

Top 5 Journey song for me. Everything's great about it. The Neal riffs, the vocals, the melody, the jazzy drum work in the intro (just listen... great feel), and everything else. The only thing you might say against it is that it lacks a typical signature Neal melodic solo.

Wow - never seen that clip before. They were untouchable in their prime.

They DID close the 2005 Tour with this song....quite a few times. Augeri was "singing" it, and Deen helped out quite a bit.

They closed out the show with this one for the first few weeks of the 2004 (Detour) tour. Then they dropped it and went back to LTS as the closer. I remember it because they dropped it just a couple shows before I saw them. I was ticked.

Definitely the best 'unknown' Journey song. One of my favorites but so few people know the title or recognize the song.

The Party's Over has been one of my all-time favourites, ever since I got The Essential Journey a couple years back. Definitely an underplayed song. I heard it was going to be in the Adam Sandler movie "Grown Ups", any truth to it? It would make sense since Sandler has done it previous films, the most clever being the DSB strings cover.

I must definitely play this in my band... Which also means I better work my voice out to hit those highs at the end.

Anyone have a good copy of the extended live version? There are videos from Japan and Houston but I've love to have an mp3 of that version.

It's the second best song ever, just behind Anyway You Want It.
