I'm sure they're still working details out with Wal-Mart or whoever the dealer is this time around. I seem to remember with Revelation that we didn't know the actual release date until about three months before.

If that's true, then this next album is probably not going to be out until late summer...they may need to finish recording, produce it, master it, and create a few thousand CD's for sale at shows and on the website. Every time I hear something new about this album, it makes me believe even more that this is going to be an epic fail.

This is all documented and Andrew and Shirley have confirmed. When Shirley put the Journey album on the back burner, they came in and told him to hand over what he had already done and took it elsewhere. But, since then, he has helped out a bit again and will remian the album's overall producer.

Hi Guys... my uncle (BobKat) Did a Fantastic job, considering I fed him a PILE of information in about 4 & 1/2 minutes, after leaving a family new years dinner without having talked about all of this stuff, to not be rude, dominate the conversation, and bore the family with Gear talk.

I'll make a few corrections here, (as there are a few inaccuracies) and if anyone has any other questions, I'll pop on from time to time, and see if there are any.

The Producer, Kevin (Caveman) Shirley, is also a famous Mixer (Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Journey etc...)

The Deadline for the Journey record got pushed back, as Tour dates for the band started to surface for spring, and Kevin Shirley had already had Iron Maiden, John Hyatt, Joe Bonamassa, and several other sessions FILLING up his winter.

Jon Cain (Keyboard Player for journey) and I have become friends, from working on his Daughters demos for her record, and he got me the gig cutting the vocals on the Journey record... had become a Fan of my Mixing... asked me for a bunch of my mixes to play for Neal & Kevin, and through the process, I, in the end was asked to mix the record.

(Kevin also came to Nashville on a John Hyatt session and checked in on the Mixes) We closed the mixes 2 days before Christmas, but i got a "Final Tweak List" from a Neal text from Hawaii - So I'll make those changes tomorrow, and fingers crossed, we'll be set to Master.

Well there is no "Leader Of Journey", it's pretty much a democracy, with a bit of anarchy... Nevertheless, Jonathan Cain is Building a Studio, which I will have a Mix Room in, and am Helping design, with Jonathan & Chris Huston (Engineer on Led Zeppelin II, The Who "Who Sell Out", and about 100 other iconic rock albums) - a Trident TSM 52 Input Console in the main Control Room, and (No Neve Yet) in My Mix Room, but "On the watch" - 7 ISO spots INCLUDING the Drum, Piano, Keyboard Room, 2 Vocal Booths, Guitar ISO etc... Cain's got 2 Pianos... just don't know which ONE he'll bring into the Studio.

Anyways, Bob told me about this forum, so i thought I'd check it out, and I'm a stickler for details... so... I thought I'd pop on, and account for the details that occurred.

Maybe it`s not audible on this clip but those pre-amp multi FX units have a killer sound in both amp modeling and effect processing.

I'll be the first to on record and say that *I* think the billing would be a terrible idea. But that doesn't mean it's not going to happen. I want the Scorpions on the bill. This is their swan song and Journey has a chance to play in front of a crowd that loves rock and appreciates good ballads, rather than their typical crowd that likes just the opposite.

If their new album is as "rocking" Neal says it is, the choice is easy, and you do whatever it takes to have the Scorpions on the bill. Playing in front of a bunch of acid soaked Santana freaks that, by and large, think the Vietnam war isn't over yet is not a step in the right direction.

After reading all this, I'm baffled why recent Journey recording efforts don't sound better. Perhaps I just have different tastes (sonically) than those in the band. But everything from Arrival - present has never knocked me out. Not talking about the songs here -- just the mix.

Santana is currently touring Asia right now (Thailand, New Zealand, Korea, etc.) and he's got a residency gig in Vegas after that. With all that going on, I just can't imagine him being an opening act for Journey.

Well, I think many of us are still wondering how the Manila DVD recorded was mixed so poorly. In all fairness, Revelation Dsic 1 sounds good sonically except for NWA. I have no idea how the lead track can be so inferior sounding to the rest of the first disc.

I played the Revelation DVD and Live In Manila back to back, and Revelation is far better sounding. Live In Manila is nothing more than a glorified bootleg. It was very poorly done. I enjoy it, but it's not on par with a DVD release that you pay for.

NICE.. His vox will be amazing through this chain... and the BLA96 is friggin' amazing...

the new Maroon 5 album is done through BLA 96 i/o's... and Adam Levine vox are stellar on that.. courtesy of Mutt Lange and Mike Shipey of course..

So the original tracks (100 plus) were bounced down to 32 "stems"... and were then mixed through a Neve Console... which will give them a great analog sound... the Neve EQ is digital, so all the settings are re-callable..

"ITB" means "In The Box"... meaning the whole session is in the computer... as a huge file... and can be reopened, edited etc... just like any other computer file...

David and Journey have become good friends and the leader of Journey has asked David to be part owner of his New huge Nashville Studio which will open this January 5th.This new studio has 2 large tracking and drum rooms,2 grand pianos etc and 7 isolation booths.I've seen some pictures and it will have a large Neve console and a 2" tape machine.I will report back as Jouneys project progresses. [i]Well there is no "Leader Of Journey", it's pretty much a democracy, with a bit of anarchy... Nevertheless, Jonathan Cain is Building a Studio, which I will have a Mix Room in, and am Helping design, with Jonathan & Chris Huston (Engineer on Led Zeppelin II, The Who "Who Sell Out", and about 100 other iconic rock albums) - a Trident TSM 52 Input Console in the main Control Room, and (No Neve Yet) in My Mix Room, but "On the watch" - 7 ISO spots INCLUDING the Drum, Piano, Keyboard Room, 2 Vocal Booths, Guitar ISO etc... Cain's got 2 Pianos... just don't know which ONE he'll bring into the Studio.

Anyways, Bob told me about this forum, so i thought I'd check it out, and I'm a stickler for details... so... I thought I'd pop on, and account for the details that occurred.

I think a pairing with Santana for a Europe/South American tour is a smart idea from a financial standpoint. Santana is a big draw in Europe still and I don't even have to mention the draw they pull in Latin America. That said, a pairing with the Scorps for the US is what I wish for.

Neal has no plans of being a co-headliner again (unless it's a festival where Journey just gets plugged in wherever). Santana isn't going open for them. Carlos is actually bigger than Journey in Australia/Asia right now. He is playing Thailand, a couple shows in Indonesia, a bunch of shows in Australia and New Zealand and even one in Korea. No way that band plays second fiddle to Journey in South America, Asia, Europe or where ever else. I don't see Neal budging for a second concerning who is headlining. He believes his guy is the second coming, he isn't going to open for any act, no matter who they are.

Well, if you are correct on this, I guess I can forget holding out hope for a co-healining US tour with the Scorpions. I thought I read somewhere recently where Neal stated he almost prefers going on earlier or something like that. But then again I don't put much weight on what any of these guys tell the "press".
