[i]Kevin Shirley Rough Mixed the whole record in, for a Gauge of Levels / Placement, he also mixed one "Good" - as a sonic Gauge of how he heard the record. I Took the multitracks into the Neve Room at Quad Studios Nashville, for about 12 days, and Cascade mixed the album, using Kevin's Roughs as references, to 32 Stems back into ProTools. Certainly not All songs were 100 + tracks, but some of them, after BGV stacks, multi mic'd guitar parts, String Sections etc... were pretty big sessions.
My Objective at Quad, was to mix the record to a 32 Track format, using the Neve Console EQ, Compression, and all of my Favorite outboard gear, to make the album sound as Big as Possible, but then be able to have Recall / Tweakabillity of an ITB Mix... So
So the original tracks (100 plus) were bounced down to 32 "stems"... and were then mixed through a Neve Console... which will give them a great analog sound... the Neve EQ is digital, so all the settings are re-callable..
"ITB" means "In The Box"... meaning the whole session is in the computer... as a huge file... and can be reopened, edited etc... just like any other computer file...

[i]Well there is no "Leader Of Journey", it's pretty much a democracy, with a bit of anarchy... Nevertheless, Jonathan Cain is Building a Studio, which I will have a Mix Room in, and am Helping design, with Jonathan & Chris Huston (Engineer on Led Zeppelin II, The Who "Who Sell Out", and about 100 other iconic rock albums) - a Trident TSM 52 Input Console in the main Control Room, and (No Neve Yet) in My Mix Room, but "On the watch" - 7 ISO spots INCLUDING the Drum, Piano, Keyboard Room, 2 Vocal Booths, Guitar ISO etc... Cain's got 2 Pianos... just don't know which ONE he'll bring into the Studio.
Anyways, Bob told me about this forum, so i thought I'd check it out, and I'm a stickler for details... so... I thought I'd pop on, and account for the details that occurred.
Looks like JC is building a killer studio for Madison... nice!
