A Journey appearance on American Idol??

In my opinion, being one of the highest rated TV shows, this would be the single most important strategic move Journey could make in jumpstarting promotion for Eclipse and of course the new single, "City Of Hope".
Does anyone know if the band has ever been invited to appear on AI in the past? A nice endorsement for the band from former alumni, Randy Jackson wouldn't hurt, either.

Perry has been invited but not Journey. I actually heard an ad today on the radio for the concert in Irvine and Eclipse was not mentioned at all, even though it's the name of the tour. They played DSB Hot Blooded, and Sister Christian and mentioned Live Nation about five times. The tour is definitely being sold as an 80s rock bonanza, NOT as a Journey tour with support acts. I doubt whether management gives a shit if the new record sells or not, as a long as concerts do and letting people know they are going to hear the hits will do that, not telling them that will have to sit through 4 or 5 new songs that the majority of them will have no interest in.

Every year this gets brought up, and every year it never happens. I'm not holding my breathe for a appearance.

I don't see a Perryless Journey ever guesting on AI ...it's about
the vox, mentoring ...the band can only say/do so much, and the singer
is still being mentored :?

Perry was asked to be a guest judge, is there a difference between that and mentoring? I don't watch the show very often, if ever so I don't know how all of that works.

I've heard the ad on KLOS a few times.

You know, I really don't know, but I'm sure they offer
constructive criticism of some kind ...which would mean, you know mentoring... :?

He did mention the 'Journey Boys' last night.
Said something about learning how to appreciate rock & roll.
Don't remember the exact context.

If Journey gets a sniff, I bet Perry either blocks it or comes on the show in place of them as a non-performing Judge.
That's how Uncle Stevie rolls.

Don't under estimate the power of the Nose. Remember when Neal was practicing up for the world series in San Francisco after Perry got his mug splashed a few places Air-singing to DSB? Now, I'm not implying anything but.........

A guest judge sits on the panel performance night and judges the singer.

A mentor on the show helps each individual singer with the song they have chosen....helping
them change it up at times... giving them suggestions... Sometimes but not always the mentor performs the night of the live show.

I would love to see SP as a mentor.

Randy was talking about "voices that could sing anything". He was talking about Perry, but he said "the Journey Boys".
