JOURNEY will perform for the very first time in Brazil, on march 30th at Via Funchal Theater, São Paulo.

I hope they play a "greatest hits" setlist, specially for this show. I konw there's a news album, but... as it will be the first time here... brazilian fans deserve a lot of classics ! Including some hits that were success in brazilian radios, as "Girl Can't Help It", "Positive Touch" and "Chain Reaction".
Some folks told me they will perform 5 new songs... i prefer they play 2 or 3 only, and the rest.. CLASSICS !

Greetings from Brazil !

That's why they have to keep hiring singers that can sound like Perry.

Can't, they'd lose Asia. Albums are already being pre-ordered.........5 per household.

I was reading comments from people in the Journeymusic shoutbox and those from Mexico, Puerto Rico and other spanish speaking areas were really hoping to hear Girl Can't Help It and I'll Be Alright Without You when the band tours there. It seems that ROR got a lot of love from radio stations down there so Neal might want to tweak the setlist with tracks from his favorite album  if he really wants to impress those folks.

Japan is the second largest consumer of music in the world. Even with flips buying 5 albums apiece, they can't come close to what Journey was selling in Japan under Perry's vocal banner. Those days are long past.

I can maybe see AP singing GCHI....but the other one? Never happen. That is strictly a Perry song.

That was the last album from the 80's, so it makes sense that people want to hear the songs but it makes no sense that they steer clear of those songs.
It's widely known that Neal hates that album, so that's why we only hear BGTY.

Arnel has already said that GCHI is assigned to Castranova. Deen's sang IBAWY before also, most recently on the 2009 tour.

Doesn't make sense. If Arnel was hired because he has the chops for the job then they should let him cover those songs.

I don't know about that, Being on the left coast (admittingly, not as left as you are), and logging on later than others ( sometimes) I've had plenty of worthless threads where I was the only participant.

Hey, didn't Deen sing IBAWY at one the Hawaiian shows you went to in 2009? I thought you had posted a youtube of it but so much stuff has been removed lately it's hard to tell.

Yeah, I can't inmagine buying a ticket, then trying to film and worry about getting jacked by security when you should be just letting the music flow while getting stoned.

Well, I knew JSS sang it, one of the few Journey songs that really fit his voice.

My second Journey show, Philadelphia Spectrum 1982, last row behind the stage, nothing behind me but the wall. Down the row comes mari jane, for everyone to take a hit whether you knew each other or not. Those were good times.

I used to live in Hawaii and was there for the third Honolulu concert on March 28th, 2009. Deen sang IBAWY on that concert.

Heck the band even played Edge of The Blade that night.

*Note that it's not my video. I was in a higher section and didn't record any of the concert.

Don, Raised on Radio was the first JRNY album released in Brazil, after the success of Escape/Frontiers. As far as I can remember only ROR, Trial By Fire, GH Live and Arrival were released here.

If I could rank the most known songs here, they would be:

1 - DSB
2 - Who's Crying Now
3 - Open Arms
4 - Separate Ways
5 - When You Love a woman
6 - I'll be Alright Without You
7 - Remember Me (following the mega-hit I Don't Want to Miss a Thing in the Armaggedon soundtrack helped...)

As I said in another post, the only sense in playing 5 new songs is to release Eclipse here. Otherwise, it's better to play a greatest hits set.

It's natural. It's their first, and perhaps their only tour in South America. It's different to play every year in the US, and play the new songs. As a fan, I prefer to hear a set with new songs, but I understand the anxiety for a GH set list.

To give you an example, Iron Maiden will start their 9th south american tour. Every show they play 4 or 5 new songs. People would get tired if they play their hits over and over again. That's what I feel about the Journey fans in US, after being a reader of this forum for 4 years, you don't want to hear only the Dirty Dozen, you want to hear also the new songs.

BTW, I've never hear Positive Touch and Chain Reaction in the radio...

That's true for any band that hasn't played somewhere in a long time or ever, even with original members. Tears for Fears played in places they hadn't played in 24 years or never played last year, and I read the youtube comments where people complained about certain 80s hits not being played and liking okay the new songs but wished they hadn't played so many or commenting everyone sat during the new songs.

The Rush's fan base in Brazil is far bigger than Journey's... but I can tell you that this show is being so much awaited. Despite the fact that will be a 6000 people concert, it will be a sold out concert for sure.
