No BS and I'm sure it is BS but the True Oldies Channel in Chicago aka WLS just played Open Arms and after Scott Shannon the DJ said
A big rumor is floating around that Steve Perry is looking to reunite with JOURNEY, Not sure where this came from but WLS in Chicago is a big station. I'm thinking of trying to call this guy and see if I can get where this came from.

Who knows

Rod Blagojevich also hosted their morning show today, so I'd take anything from them with a huge grain of salt.

Forget 10 year contracts and 75 year royalty payouts, Perry is NEVER going away. Neal and Herbie, you created a monster.

It's Herbie's fault. They didn't want to hear a note from Perry but HH said SP is gonna be in this band so get used to it.

During the floundering Augeri years, Neal would leap at this Faustian devil deal in hot second. Not sure about now. Arnel has given the band a higher profile than they've had in ages. Eclipse is also Neal's last chance to make Journey a rock band again. Should Perry return, it's back to sleepy ballads about "Mister Moon."

When Eclipse sells more than Escape - let me know. Until then - kindly keep your delusions in check, thanks so much.

Did TBF sell more than Escape? Thanks to Glee and The Sopranos, the band is arguably bigger now than when Perry DID return in 1996. Neal might cave, but at least this time he would pause to think about it.

Radio stations are in the business of selling advertising minutes.

And that is ONLY due to the cancelled summer of '97 tour. If Journey ended up touring in '97 all bets were off. Believe me, I have interviews coming out my ass from late '96 - early '97 where everything was all roses and lemon drops between SP and the Boyz. Especially those TBF Satellite Interviews. Just a sad state of affairs with his hip situation. TBF if a mammoth album that gets slammed for absolutely NO reason whatsoever.

BTW, the music should always be your biggest marketing tool. Not sob stories about GAP workers, or karaoke, cover band singers from third world countries....MUSIC.

I think we all know this is bullshit, there is nothing in it for Perry at all. He's had a resurgence of late, in spite of not being a current member of of the band.
Journey is about to go into markets that they haven't entered before. Journey's Greatest Hits is going to be back in heavy rotation. Why subject himself to touring and possible ridicule over a spent voice when things are set to trickle in his direction anyway?

I still think NOMOTA would think twice before taking Perry up on his offer. During the Augeri years...that's a different matter. Ultimately, yes, I agree they would fold, but the Arnel lineup is very succesful. I like TBF alot...but it could use 1-2 more rockers.

Glad to know that Charlie Sheen is not the only person who is keeping drug dealers in business, because you are HIIIIGGGGHHHH!

If Steve Perry wanted back in the band, and he does not, they would kick poor Arnel back to the Philippines so fast he would not need a jet. Steve recently said something to the affect of "The past several years has shown we are better apart." Steve wants nothing to do with Journey, but if he did he would be back there in a flash and the guys would welcome him with Open Arms (pun intended.) And trust me it would be a HUGE story, even bigger than when Arnel joined the band in the fashion that he did.

Has anyone recently asked Neal or Jon if they would take Perry back now? For many I think they answer would be surprising. Here is a hint: It starts with N and ends with O.
First of all, there would have to be a full audition to determine if Steve still has it, not only to record, but to tour. I think that in itself would put an end to that going any
further. Should he pass the audition, what kind of longevity could they expect touring the Journey catalog? The chances of the band lasting are much greater with
Arnel at the helm. Besides, I'm sure there would also be fear among the band members that Steve would just work for a bit, then pack up and leave them hanging
again. As you can see, the idea is just not plausible. If Steve does anything at all it will be solo and I'm not holding my breath for that.

"Well, that's just that - a rumor. But I can tell you he's still a key component of the decision-making part of the band. Nothing gets played or released without Steve Perry signing off on it. I'm not privy to the details of their arrangement, but I can tell you this: if Steve Perry wanted to be back singing with Journey, everybody would find a way to make that happen."

I don't think Kevin Shirley would have said what he did if there wasn't some truth to it and this interview was very recent during the Eclipse production. Not saying Jon and Neal don't have a huge say but their boss also happens to be in a company that owns the majority of venues the band plays in. You just don't tell someone like that no when they control half of the music arenas here and abroad.

I'm w/G~boy ...Perry doesn't want to be back!!
But if he did, the answer would be Y~E~S!!! All they
need is Perry for a tour and they could rest!!

Another angle that people are failing to imagine that Steve is not recording, or singing anymore to SAVE his voice for an eventual reunion. Again, Neal and Co. are going to run Arnel into the ground - then do a farewell tour with SP, and his saved voice. I can totally see this happening. Listen DLR ain't got the pipes he had in the 70s/80s but that's not stopping EVH from exploiting the DLR name....

When VH toured last time, having the ragged voice of Diamond Dave instead of Sammy, (who can still sing decently) didn't hurt them at the gate very much at all.

This is no different than the past 100 times this rumor has floated, or the various other rumors about his new album. Various radio and magazine personnel seem to get hold all of the articles and mentions-in-passing and twist them for filler-scoop. I wish I had a dollar for every time I've heard or read a story (rumor) like that (excluding MR).

My suspicion is Journey is going on tour, and the "Steve's New Album" rumor has been floating more heavily since that October article (the one about the 50 songs written), so someone took the two ideas and married them and came up with Steve Perry Is Reuniting With Journey.

Clearly this isn't happening - I mean we've seen Journey's new promo shot - they let Arnel be in the middle where he can't be cropped out!

No reason? It pretty mediocre and depressing for a Journey album. The rockers are pretty bad overall.

I've said repeatedly in this thread that the band would prolly cave and take SP back. That said, with the band's popularity at its highest it's been in decades, they might think twice. I stand by that. Would Perry's return allow Neal to burn up the fretboard and shred his heart out in Brazil? The answer is an unequivocal big fat NO.

I can't even believe this is still being discussed seriously. It's like the VH1-BTM just aired yesterday, and fans are all atwitter over SP's cryptic hints at returning. It's 2011, Perry hasn't toured with the guys since 1987. It ain't happening.

Yeah, calling BS on this one. Last fall, a Christian Rock radio channel announced that Steve Perry had decided to return to music to make Christian music. Still have yet to see anything online confirming it.
