City of Hope single to be released April 4th??

According to Andrews updated mini Eclipse review on the front page, City of Hope will be released as a single on April 4th. I wonder what type/if any stations will play it?? There used to be a poster (ex-dj?) who tracked radio play on some site. Anybody remember who that was and what site?

It sounds like a "good" song, but nothing more. I expect it to be on and off the charts really fast ... if that. The album will have far better choices as a single. I consider this, at least from the live clip I heard, to be a huge mistake. Chain Of Love is a far better tune.

Do we really need a press release for the release of yet another Journey fart? A noxious gas release on April 4th. Oh joy!

Congratulations on getting a copy of the album, I can't wait to read your entire review!! Can we expect it in the next few days? I haven't seen the press release on this single, would you mind posting the link?

City of Hope is one of the songs that I keep getting stuck in my head, I'm looking forward to it!!!

Do you really want the album early?

I think COH might follow the path of Superman by Bon Jovi and possibly score in the Upper 50 on Billboard's Hot 100. Just a bit too long for Adult Contemporary. The Adult Pop category might be where it ends up, like Bon Jovi and U2.

Edge of the Moment is so much better. Why do bands always release mediocre songs as singles? Case in point: Styx

I've often wondered that as well. But if you think about it, it makes good marketing sense.

If they play the "best songs" as singles, then what's gonna hit you when you get the album? The mediocre ones!

It's like with a movie that shows the best/funniest scenes in the trailer. Once you see the movie, it's a bit of a letdown. The smart movie provides only enough of a tease to get you into the theater. Then they wow you with the big stuff.

I think bands to the same thing, for the same reason. If they can hook you with the so-so songs, then you're properly blown away when you get your hands on the album.

I personally prefer to be pleasantly surprised.

I think Edge Of The Moment, Resonate and Chain Of Love are all better than this one. Unless the album version is much better than the live version, this is a bewildering decision. :?

So exactly where is the single going to be released on April 4th?

Radio only?

Will it be on iTunes? Rhapsody? Or at least Walmart's mp3 site?

No. You are voicing the same shit over and over without hearing anything to base the bs on. Give it a rest.

What would you say is the #1 hardest Rocking song on the whole album?

Well, after I first posted this question I read the front page review. So based on that I take it that "Chain Of Love" is the hardest Rocker on the whole album???

What do you think will be edited for radio time, the end or will they chop somewhere in the middle?

Listen, Andrew, I initially based my opinion on the same 5 YouTube clips that everybody else did. Quit whining and crying because I don't like it. I guess it is alright for multiple posts by people who like it by 5 YouTube videos...quite the double standard. So I guess I should be saying the same thing to the people who are continually posting that the like it? 'Shut the fuck up, I get it....you like it. It's getting old!' How's that for equity?

Chain Of Love, Edge Of The Moment, Ritual, Resonate....all heavy for different reasons....part of She's A Mystery also beyond heavy!

Dude, you are playing a game. Everyone knows it, I know it, you know it. I don't give two shits what you think of the 5 YouTube clips. Or the whole album when you actually get it May 24. Just stop bursting into every thread to re-state your opposition. Lame.

Andrew's Eclipse Review

Hey all,

I don't know about most of you, but after seeing 2 very mediocre releases (Red 13 and Generations), I am so ready for Journey to really BE Journey again! I'm looking forward to a sonically strong-sounding album again, like the quality of TBF (Sound Quality, not the music) ...

It sounds like Andrew is saying we're going to get an acoustically strong, sonically mastered album that will have lots of layers to peel back (like the onion) ... Plus, if this album can be a combination of Escape and Frontiers (in terms of rocking out, energy level), along with Arnel's soaring vocals, then I am totally sold! I'm not going to base my opinions (good or bad) on 5 YouTube clips recorded from the audience, with their first live show in Vegas in over 16 months, since the end of the Revelation tour ... I'll wait to hear the real deal, on May 24th, and I'll be in line at WalMart to get it! This is an EXCITING time to be a JOURNEY fan ... And to stop all of the haters, I have been a fan of and seen ALL of the eras - SP, SA, JSS, and now, Arnel ...

Andrew, you might just get the old Journey fanbase fired up again ... Where's RockinDeano when you need him?

Bueller, Bueller, Anyone? Bueller?

Regards,

Michael

And, Revelation was no better....just as mediocre with nothing new or unique or interesting....just a modern reflection of nostalgia for DSB and the Escape/Frontier years.

So, with two mediocre albums, and one half-baked EP, I don't see why expecting a ;'fart' for Eclipse is that unreasonable.

I'll wait to judge until I hear it...but, some of you people are way over-hyping it.

Revelation was their best work since Frontiers.

Change For The Better, What I Needed and Turn Down The World Tonight were all new types of songs for Journey. Arguably, What I Needed had a little Mother Father to it, but even Wildest Dream was a harder rocking song than they'd done in a long time ... maybe ever. And the vocals on that album were the best since Frontiers.

I have to slightly disagree about Revelation...Aside from the "paint by numbers" opening track, there is some good stuff on there.
