Does anyone no anything about NM Productions, Inc.? Who ever or whatever it is, it has trademark on Journey, and is the organization behind pulling down all of the clips video clips of the new Journey songs. I found this information about them: www.trademarkia.com/journey-78777366.html. It seems to me, based on this information, Journey themselves are responsible for pulling down the clips of the new music. To me, this makes no sense at all. Any of the old classics that were recorded at the Nevada shows were left alone, but the five Eclipse songs were hunted down relentlessly. Even the unlisted videos were discovered and taken down.

Why would Journey not want people to promote their new songs? There is no radio anymore, and Youtube is a huge part of how people discover new music and make choices about what they will buy, and what shows they might attend.

I'm sure Journey must have some rationale for not wanting people to hear their new music, but I can't imagine what it is. Those new songs are rocking, and they were generating a lot of buzz! Now that NM Productions has been so successful, all that remains is the dirty dozen from those shows. Does Journey want to cement the idea in the mind of the public that they are a nostalgic touring act, with nothing new worth listening to or buying??? Strange.

Andrew, you are in the business. Can you make sense of Journey killing free promotion of their own upcoming release?

Someone made a good point on here after they were pulled down. That they want the fans to hear the studio songs, since there's no comparison in quality and nuances of the music soundwise. I think they left them up for a while, so we could get a taste of the new music. Then took them down.

Their seems to be an incredible sonic on the new album and some stuff that is probably not able to fully translate live. I'm sure they'll allow the youtubes to stay up a few weeks after the album is out, but for now they want the general public's first listen to off of the album. And that makes perfect sense to me.

Yeah, I can't blame them for this. I have stopped listening to the you tube tracks and will wait for the full effect when the CD drops. The fact that Eclipse is a themed record would also make the guys want fans to hear the whole work, not sub par audio - bits and pieces in the wrong order, etc.

Some more official audio clips would be nice though!

And if they keep taking them down when they're being posted in July, August, and September, what then?

I still won't give a shit. Seriously, why are people so despondent about having their youtube videos taken down? They were at the concert and should still have a copy, so what's the problem? :? I just find it somewhat prideless for people to be belly-aching about their youtube videos being yanked. Get a fucking hobby, folks!

It's about bands trying to restrict the flee flow of information that fans expect nowadays. It's no better than Lars bitching about Napster. That's just not the way you transact business in the music (and general entertainment, for that matter) worlds any more, and certainly not the way you accumulate goodwill with your most dedicated fans (i.e., those who would go to the trouble of both filming a performance AND submitting it to YouTube).

Agreed. It also could be some trepidation on Journey's part on not wanting people who haven't been to that show to not base their going to a future show on that show. 5 new songs in set, 2 opening acts - means less classics. I'd come to the same conclusion.

Journey's a 10-20k act. Losing 5-10 people that record shows is like a female Augeri fan losing 5 pounds, in that it's not even noticed. But I DO get your point about free flowing info. For now, let's just give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they're doing what they think is the best thing for their album's launch. We can always come back and rip them in September.

nm is probably short for nightmare, which was journey/herbert production company, maybe when herbie became not involved, they shortened it to nm

I just assumed NM meant NoMoTa.

Regarding the postings then removals, this is what I expected. Talking to Dan he actually said he expect Rip or someone to have the clips up within hours of the show, and that's how it went down.

If we knew, then surely the band figured as much as well. They left them for a while so everybody who wanted to could get a listen, then the band probably took stock of all the feedback, had enough of an opinion to go on, then shut them down because they don't want anything like another Arrival fiasco.
They wanted them to be up and out there, BUT for a limited time.

I don't expect them to start shuting youtubes down once the album is out, otherwise why not yank EVERY bootleg that's on youtube?
