Plane from Philippines evacuated after threat

SAN FRANCISCO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT -- Police and bomb-sniffing dogs completed a search of a Philippine Airlines flight late Tuesday night at San Francisco International Airport and discovered nothing amiss, a police sergeant said.

The search was initiated in response to a threatening phone call made to the Philippine Airline cargo office at the airport at around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sgt. Michael Rodriguez said.

Employees of the cargo office notified police, he said.

The threat was unsubstantiated and did not specify a particular flight or airport but police "wanted to err on the side of safety," Rodriguez said.

Flight No. 104, which was traveling from Manila to San Francisco, landed at the airport at 7:20 p.m., Rodriguez said.

The aircraft was met by police, who escorted the plane to a remote section of the airport, he said.

Once there, the 337 passengers and 20 crew aboard were taken off the plane and bused over to the airport's federal inspections area, he said.

The cargo was removed from the plane, Rodriguez said, and was investigated by a police explosives team, which included the trained canines.

The passengers were waiting for their luggage which was being transported from the remote site to the building as of 12:15 a.m.

Among the passengers on the plane was Arnel Pineda -- the current lead singer of Journey.

I'm bettin' it screwed up the evening's plans for the rest of the band too, Cain sent a message through twitter last evening that they were getting ready to fly all night to Santiago. Well, it looks like at least one band member didn't make it.

Just glad everything was OK!! :D
