Thinking about going to the August 10 Darien Lake Show

But, Wednesday night means work at 7:30 the next morning. Ugh, decisions, decisions. I live 75 miles from the venue so assuming the concert is over at around 11:00PM, I'd get home at around 12:30AM (Mostly two-lane country roads) Which means 5.5 hours of sleep at best :/

Should I get tickets?

I say yes. :D Five and a half hours sleep is fine. You might regret it, if you don't. I've survived on far less sleep.

Do it...I got 11th row last night. But plan on more like 1:30am because of traffic. I'm planning on taking the morning off.

do you want to see the band? What I always do is move to the back of the lawn closest to the gate when the band goes offstage for the encore. That means as soon as the encore is over, you are heading for the car and ahead of 95% of the people, and therefore, rarely in trouble with traffic jams leaving the venue. That can save a lot of time.

Of course, there are other factors like temperature, weather (rain?), what else is going on that week, price of gas, etc. If you are worried, hang tight and make a decision the week before the show once you have some idea of what will be going on that week. Get there early, and you can usually find decent tickets.

I remember that venue being AWFUL for exiting because of the traffic on the country road! One road in and out is not so good for a concert! I'd say if you want to see the band, then it's worth it. It really is bumper to bumper for a long time. Might want to take the next day off.

Seriously, take 2 vaca hours the day of the show and 2 vaca hours the next day and for a half day total vacation you get a much more enjoyable experience. Walk slowly to the car...drink a few cold ones...then head home.

I'm going to see JNRY in Sao Paulo. I live in Rio de Janeiro...I will not work on March 30, but I have to work next morning. It means to fly to Sao Paulo ( 1 hour flight) at the wednesday afternoon, do the hotel check in, go to the venue, see the show, return to the hotel and take a 4 hour sleep (if adrenalin let me do that) and then get a flight back to Rio, straight to work...It's a marathon, but I don't care...I wouldn't miss this show for anything !!! :D :D

That's the right attitude!

Sleep is way overrated.

Hmmm....I saw Def Leppard and Bryan Adams at a NY venue in 2005. It was kinda in the middle of nowhere on the coast, maybe on a peninsula. I don't know if it was Darien Lake, or Jones Beach....I think it was Jones beach. Never been to Darien Lake....

I'm going to this show...I live 75 miles away as well...I live south of Darien. The parking lot after is a disaster so I may just stay the night...there is a motel right around the corner across from the Flying J or whatever

I am very familiar with the parking lot :( We went to Ozzfest 2005 at Darien Lake and the parking lot was such a fiasco. The Burgettstown (Pittsburgh) venue is SO much nicer, and it's a Saturday. But, I'll in St. Petersburg, Russia at that time. Sorry Journey, St. Petersburg is more important to me

Does anyone know where Journey will be going after the U.S. leg of the tour is finished on October 21st? I'll be in St. Petersburg until December 11th and would love to see Journey over there.
