Ticket Prices

Journey is out of their mind charging $156 per ticket @ Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Foreigner is not even on the bill with them for this show. I was hesitant on going anyway since I am not a Pineda fan, but this sealed the deal for me. Only a Steve Perry led Journey should charge this amount.

I don't know about that show, but I think that ticket prices are pretty fair across the board for this tour. There seem to be about four or five different price ranges, with the most expensive coming in around $125-$140 after fees. Not too bad, in my opinion, for three bands and four hours of music. I snagged seats in the pavilion for two different shows for $75 and $63. I think that is very, very reasonable.

And before people start with the obligatory "back in 1983, I saw SIX bands for $20. After fees!," let's just remember that you can't pay $0.50 for bread or milk anymore, either.

Yeah, that would kill it for me, too!! I will pay it for the inclusion of Foreigner!!

The best deal out there has been the lawn seats. I've seen a lot of venues where they are only charging $15-$20, but they are only putting that price out there for the first week or so when tickets go on sale. The prices this year seem to be pretty much in line with other acts. I'm just surprised no Foreigner at this show. I'm assuming based on sales there might be some special packages closer to the show particularly on the lawn.

I was never interested in the first place, This guy may be able to sing but he looks like a 20 year old running around singing JOURNEY
Big shame what's happened to the music acts I once loved. JRNY STYX ELO Genesis Zep Little River Band The Who all dead and gone or a cover band

The actual top ticket price is $135 for this venue and they have only the top 3 sections under this price.

The other $21 is Ticketbastard service charges. I just cannot fathom how people are not calling them on their BS. I just got ass-raped for 33% of the face value of a ticket for 'service charges'. I only use them when I have to (out of town shows). Ticketmaster in some cases is making more than the artist in these situations. I will give them credit for being creative though; Ticketfast so you are going to charge me an extra $3 per ticket to use my paper and printer and ink to print my HUGE ticket from home so you don't have to print, insert, mail the tickets to me. So you want me to pay an upcharge to save you money?

I too thought the tix were outrageous, however, the tickets at the Darien Lake show, for example, are selling very well (appears 3k/5k seats are gone)...so....if people are paying I guess Journey aint outta of their minds.

Yeah, God forbid that Journey should have a youthful look...

$100+ would be okay if it was three bands I gave a shit about. I guess older fans (I'm 29) probably grew up with all 3 bands and it makes a convenient package, but I can't really get excited about seeing Foreigner or Night Ranger. They both have a handful of tunes I like, but I just...don't care. Then again, if they do announce a Nashville show, there's always cheap tickets to be had the day of the gig.

I can't believe they haven't announced Nashville yet. Especially since Cain lives there now. There are still a few gaps on the schedule where it would make sense to add a Nashville stop, so we'll see...

True. But Journey would play a shortened set due to the other two bands, most likely, so...i'd probably top out at 50-60 bucks for this.

Eventually people are going to stop paying $100 to see the same bands play the same dozen songs repeatedly...right?

You can blame "I Love All Access" for that. You will never get close seats again....unless you want to spend close to $1000/ticket.

I have NEVER paid that much for a Journey ticket. For Main Event, it was $75 for 3rd row seats. For Journey/Leppard, I think it was about the same. When they were at the fair, it was $50/ticket (and I expect Def Leppard/Heart will be the same this year.)

Charging so much is outrageous...especially when you don't even have a CHANCE to get a close seat.

I'm sorry, but these people are losers. Dropping that much so that they can schmooze with the band, and getting rustled like cattle. Just my opinion. I'm happy on the lawn. I want to be nowhere near the gravity well of the first few rows....I'm risking becoming a satellite. I hate elliptical orbits.

A testament to the fact that Journey is as relevant as ever. You can't deny it. A handful of loons on an internet forum is no barometer
of the current Journey's success. 8) :D

Agreed. This is the perfect breakdown, and this is what it looks to be at a vast majority of shows. If you want to sit close, you'll pay more. I'm more than happy paying $65-$75 for a seat in the back-half of the pavilion, straight-on from the stage. It's three bands. I don't see how people expect the best seats to be $50 for this tour.

I got 11th row on Ticketmaster...not shabby...but $99 is way more than I feel comfortable paying. Fan Club tix for the Arrival tour were like $80-$85 and I was in the pit at SPAC.

Fact Finder wrote:Um, far back pavillion center stage were $156 (inc fees) for Cincy. I'd have paid $75 in a heartbeat for those seats but $156? No fucking way. My seat request came back as section 800 row GG, easily 40 some rows and 3 walkways back. I understand the ILAA bull and more power to those who want to and can afford it but I've been in Riverbend a few hundred times and I can say that section 800 is not Gold Circle Seating. 200, 400,500,600 and Pit are, but not 800, that's just asking a tad much. You need binoculars back there or you need to watch the video screen for a close up view.

Wow, that does seem a little ridiculous for section 800. I guess I lucked out with Chicago and Indianapolis. I got the middle of section 204 in Chicago for $75 including fees...:

...and I'm in the middle of section F in Indianapolis for $63 including fees:

I'm kind of shocked that Cincinnati was so much more expensive than Chicago in particular. I have absolutely no problem with seats in these locations at the prices I paid.

I took a look at Cinci. OK, I'm kinda bored right now. :D It looks like the 800 section row GG was selling for $103 which includes all the fees. Did you have your glasses on??  Still some seats in the 700 and 900 sectiions for $81. I love these new seating charts where you can click on the section or zoom to see what's available and select your own seat. Pretty cool!!

I see what you're seeing there, but I'm just saying that on Fri at 10am my 2 seats came back a total of $312 and they were def 800 section row GG (ok maybe CC), I know that place like the back of my hand. FWIW, I wouldn't have paid the $103 for that spot either, with TM's fees that's still pushing $250, and that's just unacceptable for me for that spot. I'm paying for Journey and the other 2, not a Zeppelin, Stones or even Eagles who may command that price.

Prices are definitely high, but they are still selling. :? I really thought the price would hurt sales and maybe it still will in some markets. Obviously it's hurting Cincy since you're not going. I kinda thought you might have brought up Section 500 and you might have misread it. Still ridiculous that far back, but 500 is basically sold out.

BTW: that $103 included fees, price was $86, not that it matters.

I don't know why these shows are so expensive when they are initially announced and go on sale ...I paid $350.00 for three
front row seats the last time they toured w/NR, one week before the show ...I say wait until right before the show, unless
it's Zep, The Stones or even The Eagles ...let's throw BonJovi in the mix, as well!!

I've bought lots of front row (5/6 times) and tons of rows 1 thru 15 on the day of the show at Riverbend. That's good advice MG, plenty of Radio Stations and big wig muckety mucks have to return their unused (freebies) tickets for sale on show day, as well as any unclaimed band family/friends tickets that were held out as well. One time I remember having really decent Rush tickets in 400 of the chart above, on the day of I logged into TM that morning and viola I had 4 front row tics in front of Geddy.

Agree 100% on those suggestions. I pulled front-row center tickets to Journey and Heart in Louisville in 2009 about a week before the show. Face value, through Ticketmaster. That's after not seeing ANY floor seats pop up on Ticketmaster after about the first week the tickets went on sale. If at all possible, wait until right before the show to buy your tickets if you are trying to sit as close as possible.
