Old age will catch him, and he'll slow down. This is a tasty one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXMtH_NC ... re=related

I hope he finds the desire to be as soulful as that again. Awesome.

If you get to see Miles and Neal play live together, you could almost walk away thinking the younger Schon has the better technique now. Yeah, that's a bold statement but Miles is young and hasn't picked up the bad habits a lifetime of playing live might get you.

I think it's just laziness. I'm not 1/100th of the guitar player Neal is or was, but I've noticed I just get lazy and go to the same old licks nowadays too because I just don't have the time to practice much anymore. I used to play in a band, jam a lot with others, and do a lot of practicing. Nowadays, I average a couple hours a week. It's just not enough, and I get lazy. Neal's laziness obviously isn't for lack of practice, but it's the same end.

I got to see Miles and Neal on back to back nights in 2009. Miles at Frank Martinez's annual Journey fan party, from about 3 feet away (Neal's mom was standing next to me), and Neal from the front row at The Santa Babara Bowl. Miles owned his ass. The kid slowed it down, grooved and played with incredible emotion. His band had a song called Sampson that is one of the coolest I've ever heard. When I told the lead singer that he informed me the song was about Miles' Rottweiler dying. What incredible, passionate guitar playing. It was awesome.

The kid plays great. He looks like his old man, and even sings like him too: http://www.youtube.com/user/TheMilesSch ... GbaNoA8-MU

Check him out covering a soul sirkus tune: http://www.youtube.com/user/TheMilesSch ... Kd7_nOZ_OA The singer struggles a bit, but Miles nails it.

Sony or somebody has a lot of cool stuff they should release on DVD from Journey back in the day! What is going on here? Why is in collecting dust on some shelf somewhere?

Probably because Journey is no longer under their label. When the Greatest Hits finally runs its course and stops selling (it has been on Bilboard's Album charts almost every week for the last two years) then you might see Sony dust off some videos from back in the day.
Of course by then, Journey might be already played out with the over exposure of DSB and what not so Sony could just say forget it.

WOW. Never knew they did anything from Dream live. Smitty's really playing off Neal here. GREAT chemistry.

There are bootleg videos of this show that are almost commercial quality. People have taken the time to remix the audio, the colors, everything.
I actually prefer it over the Houston show but's that because of the more varied setlist.

As these are going to be 4 gig files, the first thing you need to know how to do is use torrents.

Why Don, I'm sure I don't know what you mean. What are these -- "torrents" -- you speak of? Gail force winds of some kind?

I actually found my way to MR for the first time because of comments left by people downloading the 1980 Journey video from Osaka that I had uploaded to the site.

Ditto here. I thought I had even done a pretty thorough search for anything performed live from Dream and came up empty. That's very cool!

Sony shot this concert for promo. The original live video of DSB aired in the first month of MTV's existence came from this show which had just been recorded one month prior. Sony knew MTV didn't have a lot of American rock videos to start out with so made sure that Journey's new album got in the rotation as soon as the channel went on the air. That foresight may very well be the reason why Escape managed to reach number one on the album charts a month later.

Nobody is seeding that torrent. Torrent is almost 4 years old. I have it already. Probably not the Sullyland version...

Actually, I just checked. I don't have that one. I have Journey Budokan Hall 3/2/83, and Journey Japan '79....No seeders for the 1981.

Yeah, seeds seem dead everywhere for this one. It's such an old torrent. I guess I can try to upload mine this weekend if all else fails.

I mailed this disc out to quite a few members here on the site a few years back but I really can't be arsed to do that again. I'll probaly upload it.

That was the one I uploaded. It was a hot download back then. My link is dead but this guy has 9 seeds.

It's the show that Captured used the Audio from for Lights/ Stay Ahile. Also MTV used the video for those two songs.

I have plenty of room on my server which it's on a very -=FAST=- network if you're needing some place to upload it and also make it available for people to download. I know you don't know me but I'm happy to host it just the same. The offer's there if you want to take me up on it.

Journeywise, it's dead. Tons of other rock bands though.
I'll skip the obvious Bon Jovi/Aerosmith stuff. Just a lot of different groups in general.

Here's a small sample of new uploads that have seeds

Rush - Wild Kinetic Dreams
W.A.S.P. - Lovech, Bulgaria 2008-5-11
Gary Moore
Britney Fox
Nightwish
Gotthard

There's a lot more.
