Human Feel

HUMAN FEEL
In a jungle of hardware and mass frustration,
Overloaded with way too much information these days,
I am needing more than the virtual world I am seeing,
Could someone just let me talk to a live human being?
While automation and droids just keep on coming,
I wanna unplug right now, I want to just start running,
Caught up in the web as it weaves an illusion,
A network of lies that jive full of confusion,

What we’re missing is true emotion,
I get lost in this digital ocean,
What I’m needing right now is human feel

Can’t substitute love and passion,
Show me you care, baby,
Show me reaction,
Coming straight from the heart,
It’s human feel

Rise up! Find some compassion,
It’s not too late,
Don’t give up! What you feel still matters
Don’t wait

Make it real,
Keep it real,
Human feel

Show me reaction,
Don’t wait

Can’t substitute love and passion,
Show me you care, baby,
Show me reaction,
Coming straight from the heart,
It’s human feel

Rise up! Find some compassion right now,
Don’t give up! Show me reaction, Don’t wait

Rise up!
Make it real,
Make it human feel
Rise up! Yeah!
Oh. Ri-i-i-i-i-ise up!
Rise up!
Make it real,
Make it human feel
Rise up! Yeah!
Oh, Rise up!
Rise up!
Oh
Rise up!
Oh, Rise up!
Rise up!

Dreadful lyrics....Neil Peart is rolling over in his future grave.

I liked the song better the first time I heard it...when it was called Virtuality

The word jive should be outlawed for any song post 1989.

I'll say it again, Human Feel is all about the beat.

I wonder if it's actually "jive" or something else, since jive isn't a verb. I agree, jive shouldn't be used unless absolutely necessary. Exceptions have to be made for certain expressions like "jive turkey" since nothing else quite carries that connotation if needed.

That's exactly what I thought! I mentioned in a different thread yesterday that the first time I heard it it reminded me of RUSH circa Signals era.

Not entirely sure on this one, but I keep hearing "A network of lies, that giant ball of confusion" personally.

Could be wrong though.

Sounds like this one will come across better live than on the album so far, especially with those drums.

After living with both songs back to back, it's clear to me this whole album is going to come off like one big song.

I don't think they are going to be the only ones. I think people that liked Revelation because of it sounding like an 80s era Journey are not going to be totally into this one. There isn't going to be DSB playing at the album kiosk for fans to latch onto this time around.

Unfortunately, this is becoming the Angry Birds generation. People want some thing they can listen to or play with for 5 minutes max and then move on.

Oh yeah, that's right, someone should inform him that unless you get all super duper gooey gushy about the new album, you're not allowed to say anything! Oh and it's also not ok to say anything that isn't 100% positive about it either, and there's just NO way you can have the opinion that it doesn't appeal to you so far because how could possibly know with only a 30-second listen? Oh but it's ok to know it's just awesome and amazing and fantastic from that same 30-second listen

Remember a loooong time ago when all that was available was a 30 second clip?! ...the people
who LOVED that 30 second clip were saying to the people who didn't love the 30 second clip ...
"how can you judge a whole song based on 30 seconds?" It was very entertaining, to say the
least ...

Well its quite simple you love something on the get go or you don`t  ..but seriously.. people should give it a listen with an unbiased approach.

The problem is, Journey has always had the ability to get people hooked with the snippets before. Obviously, this album is going to be different then the norm and not everyone is going to want to go aboard. Sure the concerts will still be attended well because people know that Journey is going to play the dirty dozen regardless but I think album sales are were we are going to see the band take a bite this time around. The first week numbers should be good because of those hardcore "must own everything" Journey fans but after that I think 'No classics' or 'No DVD' pack-in is going to equal less interest for a lot of people who gobbled up Revelation.

I based what I liked off the full songs on youtube. The short snippet of 30 seconds everyone was complaining about the snippet being too short, from what I can remember, and asking Andrew to get longer snippets, which he did. The longer snippets Andrew posted helped me appreciate the sound of layering of instruments. I loved Chain of Love and Resonate right from the get-go of the full songs off Fabb's videos and the few that filtered from South America, and I could tell Edge of the Moment was interesting. The two singles, City of Hope and Human Feel, are the ones I just wasn't sure about from the full-song concert clips on youtube. They didn't grab me. Releasing them as singles and hearing the songs here helped me appreciate them much more.

Neal always said it was a different kind of album and he wasn't making it for radio hits and was making it harder rocking. So it definitely won't be for every Journey fan. Jon called it a headphone album.

This is no longer as simple as people not liking the singer. When people start thinking this doesn't sound like Journey regardless of who's singing, you can't really blame fan.
Look at how the fan base split over ROR. Same classic lineup but when one guy takes over, the magic of Journey is no longer firing along on all cylinders and people bail. In ROR's case, whole groups of fans departed, most notably the Japanese fans. They were replaced with a lot of fans from South America and older fans who were more into contemporary rock but still it changed things in the Journey universe drastically.
Neal has made it known this this album would be a dramatic departure from the tried and true Journey formula. If people want to get off the train because they it's become the Neal Schon show, much like it was considered the Steve Perry Show with ROR, you can't blame them.

Respectfully, allow me to say that I don't quite agree, here. Clear your mind and go and listen to preview clips from any of Journey's albums from your favorite site... not very many really grab me and yet I love so much of what they've produced over the years when heard full length.
