I'm wondering if you're really getting the whole complete story because I highly doubt that Neal and Jonathan would agree to have any part of this. Aside from that, based on his answer to the first question, I have a feeling the Perry loons are gonna crucify this poor guy.

No, but Herbie did - which means you are going to get more raw unvarnished truth than you would from Neal and Jon combined.

But will it just be 200 pages of filler packed around all things Journey according to te world of Herbie? Do we really need a another retelling of why he wouldn't piss down Perry's throat even if Steve's heart were on fire or the "Get My wife a record deal or take my stuff back out of the trunk" story again?

HH's version is only one side of the story...how is that fair? If this book is another re-hash of how SP is the devil and wanted to kill Journey... no, we won't like it one bit. However, it remains to be seen how the author handles the info and tidbits. I thought Andrew did a terrific job filtering and getting even-handed answers with his HH interview a few years ago.

I bet Neal agrees with what Herbie says about 80-90%.

Herbie was there from the start, built the band....and is financially secure. He has no attachment left with the band other than maybe advisor.

I'll take his word as the Journey Gospel.

I'll give the book a look if it touches on a certain person showing up to the Bill Graham Tribute Show inebriated and talks about him stomping around the TBF sessions like a paranoid Heinrich Himmler, while bitching and complaining about everything like Benny Mardones with a sore throat.

I won't across the board. The majority of it I will because he was there through it all. But your experiences with people color your perception of them and certain events. He was, essentially, fired by Steve. That's affects his version of certain events because I'm sure he dislikes Steve. He loves Neal like a son and they're still very close. That can tend to color some of his memories, but not all of his memories. So I use common sense on some of his remarks, but still think he's a great source for band's history. For that reason, I will buy it. At least they have a source for someone who was there.

I hear ya, although he isn't 100% complimentary to even Neal.

True, nor Jon. I doubt he will censor his thoughts, LOL

I'm slowly learning, mostly through the internet, that this band is one big group of paranoid control freaks.

That song made the TOP 20 twice, in 80 and 89, both with Mardones on vocals. I guess Benny can be considered a one hit wonder X2.

Writing a Journey book would for me be the most exilerating, exciting and amazing trip I could do.....but I'd only do it under certain conditions that will likely never ever be allowed.

Much like the truth behind the Kennedy Assassination......when all parties are dead and buried. Band members need to grow the fuck up. Seriously...

Comparing Journey to the Kennedy Assassination? Really?

Anybody else receive one of these today?

But Herbie has no image to protect and doesn't care who he offends by giving his side of the story. I would tend to believe his side more than all the rest personally.

Not me. He's a good interview, but my god he's always come across to me as a asshole with am axe to grind. I get what he did for the band, but take a modesty pill Herbie ... or about two bottles worth. Always viewed him and Perry as a 'quiet, calculating asshole' vs. a 'loud loud, arrogant, sneering asshole' and don't have too much trouble believing that they wouldn't get along.

Me neither, he'd set himself on fire if he wasn't getting enough attention ...which
is also what made him good at his job ...but trust his every word, heeeeelllll no!!
He will embellish, stretch and twist the truth, it's his nature.

And if you take Herbie's word for everything, you not only get the picture of Perry as a major douche, you get an image of Neal being dumber than a box of rocks and Cain being a sniveling asshole and then both of them being utter cowards when it came to dealing with Herbie and Perry's egos.

Herbie might lay it on Perry pretty thick but his brush doesn't miss many of the other members either. Doesn't matter if one asshole is bigger than the other, it's still shit that comes out in the end.
