Cool tune – not exactly Journeyish. Still, would've gladly had this on Arrival in place of a weepy ballad or two. This is back in 1999 and while Augeri is sounding good, his limitations are already present. Most obviously, the lack of falsetto or any sort of subtlelty. He just attacks the song full-bore from his chest, little wonder he blew out his pipes.

See Red13JoePa's post two above yours. Bands sometimes work on songs for years before deeming them fit to appear on an album.
brandonx76 wrote:Come on...there is absolutely no indication this song had anything to do with Arrival - I almost liken it to "dusting off cobwebs" with the efforts to write "Remember Me" - a decent tune is it's own right, but nothing magical - I think they pulled off a lot with Arrival song-writing and partnership wise (See also the enlistment of certain co-writers)...this song sounds like they were still finding their way.

No idea where you're coming from. It is widely accepted that any new material the band tested out on the road in 98 and 99 would find its way onto Arrival. That's why they were debuting it at Journey concerts (duh). As for "Remember Me", that was a collaboration between Schon, Cain, and Blades - the very same trio responsible for the best songs on "Arrival". Like all their Arrival efforts (HP, WGW, IGARTBA), "Remember Me" is a great tune.

I don't care what 13 tracks some studio exec hand-picked. This is an unused "Arrival" song. If that doesn't sit well, call it an "unused Augeri era song", whatever it is, it was new Journey and at the time, the expectation was that it would end up somewhere. That's why they played it.
brandonx76 wrote:TNC - didn't realize the same co-writers were involved on Remember Me (i.e. Blades)- so you can take that part of my statement out...hate to sound overly argumentative (just some friendly banter I hope), but something didn't correlate for me given the timing for a one-off tune they performed during their comeback tour would be part of the "arrival" album. Curious if they ever announced this song as 'soon to be recorded for our as of yet named new album.' Again not a bad song, but based on the rough audience quality bootleg youtube recording, not anything special either.
Drew - Thanks for the info!
cheers

I dunno. I always found that one rather repetitive and annoying. Not one of the finer moments on Arrival for me...

The Blades songs make the album for me. Wish they threw Remember Me on there as well. Not expecting anything as catchy to be found on Eclipse.
