Yeh, surprised Wmart didn't insist upon it being on the US release.

I do wonder if the issues with Kevin Shirley and limited time in the studio played into them just tossing DSB on there at the last minute just to say there is a "Bonus" track. It has absolutely no flow with the new material we have heard from Eclipse so far. If anything, they should have put this on the UK release to see if they could bleed even more juice out of DSB over there, since Europe was where it was all the rage last year, not Japan.

This is embarrassing. As a fan of the new lineup, this is just plain revolting. Who came up with this idea?

would you prefer the Japanese fans getting a new song, and then everyone else complaining that it wasn't on the regular release? At least you don't have to worry about shelling out the currency to get the import now. Sounds like everyone wins. The Japanese record label gets their extra song, and the rest of the Journey nation doesn't have to worry about getting short-changed.

Nobody loses in this day and age....that's what P2P sites, and torrents are for....I have all my japanese/european bonus tracks and never had to pay $35 for an import....get with the program man!
I find it ludicrous to pay an extra $20+ for ONE song.....

I have at least 800 CDs that I bought while in Japan in the late 80s. I'd say 80% or more of them have bonus material consisting of one or two NEW songs. First, Journey gave the Japanese a re-recorded version of Place In Your Heart for the Revelation bonus track and now this.
What ever happened to writing enough new songs to have some in reserve for bonus tracks, soundtracks and what not? An overplayed song with a flat, live audience to boot. Is this the band's new marketing angle, just throw a DSB sticker on a package and call it good?

They re-did Faith in the Heartland to re-expose it and give it another chance with Arnel. Do the same thing with Higher Place or Remember Me!

You can't do better than perfect....leave Remember Me alone.......best SA song. Period.

They already gave the Japanese fans two retread titles from the Augeri era and you want them to re-record even more? Is it that hard to write one extra track for Eclipse?

No one would be getting short changed, you just release it in the states a few months later as a digital only single. With the internet, it's not like most people wouldn't end up getting it anyway.
Look at the UK and South American fans. They supposedly got first crack at purchasing City Of Hope/Human Feel only to have Frontiers Italy give the songs away for free the same day of release.

Quick quiz....
Name the ONLY band that never had, nor never will have a bonus track, unreleased track, or any semblance of anything you've never heard before...
If anybody gets this I will be HIGHLY impressed.....
Although, they have played 2 songs in concert early in their career that were originals that never appeared on any release....

I have no doubt that they had extra songs available. May not have had any that reached their quality standards though. The live song idea fulfills the requirement without any fanbase divisions also.

I agree with you....just if they weren't going to issue something NEW as the bonus I'd prefer them to continue to push their post-Perry library. A lot of good songs no matter what the Loons think.
Even if they took something of the Mickey Thomas CD they gave songs to...or the Jack Blades one....and recorded them with Arnel. I think its better than DSB...again.

Is this really such a big issue to be bitching over. Apparently so.

All I can think is, with Kevin Shirley being busy, they ran out of time to get any extra tracks up to snuff before Kevin and the band went their separate ways.

Of course. At least we haven't talked about Arnel's accent (yet).

Since I don't think I own a single import CD, I am just going to take a couple wild guesses. 1 Led Zeppelin 2 Black Crowes

Bingo. What a remarkably simple concept.
