Cool clip. It's crazy that tour was five years ago. Damn.

Judging by that clip, maybe Def Leppard should sack Elliot in favor of Soto.

That would be something, sacking the founder of the band.

Done about as easily as sacking Neal Schon.

Friga would probably try it if he thought he could get away with it.

That would be something but honestly, Elliot sounds like shit anymore so I would welcome that change.

I'm sure that this was said about Dennis DeYoung back in the day

Instead of STYX, he should have called his band The Dennis DeYoung Band. Then it would be silly if people went on without him and used the same name.

More proof that Journey made the right decision. The notes on Who's Cryin' Now were way off and he follows up with "it sounds all right so far". Are you kidding me? And then Def Lep? Journey made the right move, it just took too long. And look at the emotion coming from Friga.

Jeff really impressed me with Journey. His first live shows were not so good, but the man is a quick study, and by the end, I was very surprised how well he could sing Journey songs. Jeff is a great singer, and I still love the Soul Sirkus stuff, and Beautiful Mess and W.E.T. are fantastic. It's a pity everything went so bad because I like Jeff and Neal together, even if not in Journey.

I agree and think that there would be much less animosity toward the band (and Neal) if things would've been handled differently. They seemed to have very good chemistry on stage and could've done some really good stuff together.

They're all replaceable, the big question is ...would Neal allow
them to go on without him?!?

In 1984 or earlier, I would say yeah maybe so. After that, no, I don't believe so.

I think he's referring to the era, when a band could replace a member and continue successfully, like Van Halen did.

With the success of Street Talk and the cameo in "We Are The World", Steve Perry was the face of Journey at that point. The politics of ROR cemented that perception even further, two years later.

No, he's not Steve Perry. But I don't care what anyone says - that kicked ass.

Agreed, I've always loooooved Jeff's take and energy on Dead Or Alive!

Line of Fire, never really liked that one. Not even Perry's version either........just one of those songs that just didn't do anything for me. LOL wouldn't put it at the bottom with Can Do, but for me it's just kinda, meh, skip to the next.......

I was referring to the era as Rick described and also the circumstances at the time. Neal had done a couple albums with Jan Hammer, and just completed the HSAS project with Hagar with the very real possiblity of that becoming an active band had Van Halen not come knocking on Hagar's door soon afterward. Hard rock was also king at that time and you know that was the direction Neal was looking to go in. Add to that the brewing troubles within Journey and I defintely think at that time Neal may have considered other possibilities. That said, it is pretty wild looking back and seeing how quickly those opportunities closed down.

Uh it's a sound check and "it sounds all right so far"- Jeff's referring to his monitors. Duh.

Hehe... apparently he still is, if you take into account all those journalists who wanted to talk to him with the resurgence of DSB.
