To say everyone involved has flat worn this song out is an understatement.
So maybe instead of people going out and buying more GH albums, they are
saying make it go away?

The people interested in those will show up at the concerts. From a retail standpoint, it may finally be time for Journey to join it's peers as far as moving product is concerned.

I don't know about that; Separate Ways has popped up in Yes Man and Tron 2, so I could see that song succeeding DSB in the media in the future.

The past hits and the ever presence of Perry in all things Journey needs to go away for awhile, if just for the band to get a little breathing room to redefine itself with new material.

I would call it the Journey gravy train and it's not coming to an end. They're probably paying Perry a shit load of money to pay the dirty dozen at every concert plus album sales and radio airplay royalties. I'll bet he's making just as much, if not more, than Neal, Ross and Jonathan are.

Aren't we all though?

Not really. I still enjoy the hell out of the song. But I have really never heard it on television, other than in The Soprano's finale, and hardly ever hear it on the radio. So, for me, it's still a great song. But I don't watch Glee, AI, Family Guy or any of the other shows that have played it to death.

Bring Me To Life
Living In A Prayer
Don't Want To Miss A Thing
I think the difference here is those songs just sell, where as DSB is (allegedly) in your face, at least here in the states if you watch a lot of TV and follow the popular programs. I think the radio is the song's weakest proponent to tell the truth as Who's Crying Now seems to have gotten much more airplay over the years, at least in my neck of the woods.

I do agree that I've been hearing Who's Crying Now a lot more on the radio nowadays.
And I can certainly see those aforementioned songs still getting a lot of airplay. Not to mention how many teenagers and young adults make AMVs with those songs on YouTube.

Don't forget about Separate Ways being in the movie "Yes Man" with Jim Carey.

It sounded great in that movie too. They beefed up the bass drum beat and made it rockier.

It will never happen. Just like this up coming album, it would scare too many people off.
Journey has some pretty hard rockers in the back catalog too.

By the middle of the tour, there will be people here and on the Arnel/Journey forums asking for more/specific ballads and mid-tempo songs to be included in the setlist.
Journey can't escape from who they are.

I predict one more album and Cain will win.

I predict the next album being a live CD/DVD package like what Def Leppard is doing and then after that, Cain quits.
