If anybody is interested, SA is putting on a free concert at the PARX Casino near Philly on Sunday May 22 at 6PM.

An old friend of mine works in Philly. He was suddenly texting me yesterday saying how psyched his boss was that Perry was playing a free show in Philly. Fucking dumbasses.

Parx does this type of thing a few times a year. They pay the artist to perform in hopes that some of the people that show up drink and gamble.

You're right. Totally forgot about "Common Ground". "Riverside" I excluded because he already performed it. But that's still a new one. "Common Ground" sounded pretty cool.

I bought Riverside back in October when it came out. Nice tune.

I wasn’t sure I was going to post anything in reference to Steve’s show at Parx Casino because many now seem to be so critical of him and that time for the band, and others may feel that I am trying to rain on the Eclipse parade. But, that certainly isn’t the case, so here’s my take on that evening.

First, I will preface this with I always liked the Augeri incarnation of Journey, honestly because that is when I paid the most attention to their music due to my age, but unfortunately, due to conflicts, I only saw Journey once in his 8 years with band. The only other time I had the opportunity to see Steve perform was a short set at BB Kings with Jack Morer, as Tall Stories, two years ago. Unfortunately, due to timing, their set was cut short. That show did however present me with the opportunity to meet Steve. As so many before on the board have stated, the guy is awesome.

So, on to Sunday’s nights show… As is customary thus far, he opens with Separate Ways, IMO one of the catalog that he always performs well. Tonight was no exception. I hate to say that I don’t recall the order of set list, but he for the most part covered what you would expect.[not in accurate order]. Separate Ways, Ask the Lonely, Higher Place, Lights, Wheel in the Sky, All the Way, Stone in Love, Kiss Me Softly, Faithfully, DBS, LTS, and Anyway you Want it. He tossed in [3] of his solo tracks from the yet to be released solo CD, Riverside, Common Ground, and Photograph. Overall, the performance lasted about 90 minutes.

Steve and the band were having a great time; something he commented on after the show, and it was evident to those in the audience that they were on their game. Everyone was singing along and a significant number of folks there just to gamble stopped and got up to watch the show.

As someone who never had the opportunities I would have liked to see Steve perform with Journey, this was the next best thing. Vocally, for those who care, he sounded great. He hit the notes that many would expect him to duck post-Journey, and he was strong and commanding in his delivery. Was he perfect the entire show, no, there was a bum note here or there, but certainly nothing that detracted from the evening, or that’s unexpected when seeing someone perform live, and I would dare say that the performance would have ranked up there with some of his best nights.

Got a concert call from Ed (AR) during LTS and Steve sounded really good. He said the crowd was great and that he met up with a few current and former members here. Wish I could have made it. Sounds like it was a blast.

SA has never been able to pull off HP live. Ever.
Sounds like he hits the money notes in this 'Faithfully' clip.

I love All The Way and Kiss Me Softly. Glad to see he's performing, at least, three Arrival songs.

Best song of Journey hands down -- well, for me. Very good rendition, it sounds like; although, a bad clip.

My opinion for what it's worth being there... Agree with TBC, it's never been a song that ever sounded as good live as it did on the album. If anything it begins a bit weak, but it comes together overall, and let's not forget it is still a YT video. That said, I think even the naysayers would have been impressed with Steve, and quite frankly, the entire band's performance Sunday night. Steve worked the crowd well and there were a lot of smiles and laughs on stage.

 that's all i got for the naysayers.....

i will say it is the best show i have ever heard him do...ever. steve and the band were totally feeding off the high energy vibe in the room and it made for a perfect night...yeah i'm biased, because my friends gerard, craig, steve, mike and adam are a talented bunch.

The audio quality isn't the best, but a decent video of the LTS medley from Sunday night @ Parx that popped up on YT overnight.
